New Maxfli C3 Golf Ball

Hey Minarets,

Though you might have had a few too many wobbly pops on the course after you stated that the C3 with its urethane cover was "clickier" than the Tour Fire with its ionomer one.

You were right.

Wow does that ball feel hard off the putter face.

I agree with Swartzd that the Tour Fire isn't as good around the greens, and I could get the C3 to bite better. However, where I really noticed the harsh feel on the C3 was when a mishit took place. When I hit the ball good, it felt good. When I hit it "off", wow, not good. It also felt better after playing it for a few holes.

Regardless, tour quality spin for $15/doz - just different than what I'm used to playing. And, if I hit the ball better, it feels better. Actually getting feedback from a ball is not a bad thing.

yes, i will say the more i played with the C3, the better it felt. that said, i like(d) the tour Fire better overall.
the Tour Fire feels great off the putter and irons for me. as good as any other ball i have played. the driver is less noticeble between the C3 and TFire.

also, i thing the spin was a tossup for me. the C3 may indeed stop a tad better, but the feel of the TFire was so better to balance that out for me. both are great balls at their price point. the $12/box for the TFire does the trick.

the biggest problem i have is both these budget balls will be gone sooner rather than later and i will be stuck looking for another good budget ball

For anyone considering buying these balls (get em while you can), I had a bit more feedback, as I gamed with it a little more.

- With my SS of ~95, I found these to be shorter than other balls I've gamed, most notably the Nike One Vapor. I was at least 1/2 club shorter on pure hits, and a full club shorter on mishits

- LOW! Wow does this ball ever go low. I have heavily sole-weighted irons, yet a 7i shot with this ball has a trajectory closer to a 5i shot with my normal gamers.

- ROLL! This ball will roll - the most roll I've seen on any ball I've gamed since 1987.

- Decent spin. Yes, it is a urethane ball and spins like one. However it does not spin as well as some other tour caliber balls I've played (most notably the Srixon Z-URS and the Pro V1)

- Putts heavy! Never felt like this about a ball before. Seems to go farther with the same stroke, and rolls "heavier" on its line.

If I was paying $45/dozen, I don't think I'd be all that happy with the ball. At $15/dozen, it is light years ahead of anything in the same price range. I'll definately be saving them for windy days and when the course is hard.

Know this is an old thread, but just wondering if anyone has seen any of these C3s still kicking around in the Minneapolis area?

Found some at the Dick's in Richfield last year, and was hoping there might still be some at a Dick's or a GG in the Twin Cities area. Coming down for a few days next weekend and would like to stock up if I can find them kicking around.

Saw them on clearance at the GG in Roseville about a month ago for 25% off the $14.97 marked price.

Unfortunately, none at the GG in Roseville, Richfield, or Plymouth. Also struck out at the Dick's in Richfield. Seem to have gone the way of the Tour Edition....
