I'd hit a knockdown PW with a little cut (I'm a lefty) to avoid the water and make my par and get out.

Playoff hole to win a tournament, the fairway has OB right and water left- your opponent hits a clutch tee shot to a tough fairway right down the middle- do you take driver and follow him or do you play it safe and make sure you hit the fairway?

Here's how it works, someone posts a situation, next person replies what club/shot they would hit, and then a new situation.

I'll start. Tee shot on a straightaway 350 yd par 4, OB left, water right, youre 1 up, you have to hit the fairway. What would you hit?

-Kyle

Well hit an cut 3 wood and hit 54 in to the green and stick it tight and put all the pressure on him

for r7425 i'd belly my lob wedge and play it like a putt.

for lhs i'd go 3 wood and carry it way over the creek, bunkers and have it land on the back edge or back fringe.

you are even with your friend going into the par 5 18 hole while betting a large amount of money in a round lets say a couple hundred. he gets on in regualtion, with a 40 footer for his bird. you have a 40 yard shot from the rough for your third, but a tree blocks the direct route to the hole. do you do flop over the tree for the sure win and $$$ if you can pull it off, or do you play it safe and go to the middle of the green, which result in a tie and no money?

Come on guys, we need to keep this orderly. The first person to reply is the only person to reply to that situation. Let's keep this moving along. bjackson was the last person to post a situation, next person to reply is the only person who reply's to this one.

Go under the tree to the middle of the green....two putt....and hope he three putts....make him make the mistake not you.

New Situation: Match is all square.....playing 18....par 4.....410 yards.....water right...OB left.....FW bunkers at 240 out....260 to carry.....opponent hits driver over the bunkers and has 130 yards to the green....what do you do?

just baby a 6 iron out there to keep it under the wind and go flag hunting...

Ok 18th hole, par 5 510 yards, you hit your tee shot into the woods to the right, your 1 shot down and your opponent has already layed up.. third place is 1 stroke back of you and you need to at least come 2nd to stay in top 125 in money list and earn your card for next year. There is a pond infront of the right side of the green and theres a 10 yard gap about 60 yards out in the trees, so you'll need to hit a hard 3 wood with a tiny fade to put it on the green, or you can pitch out side ways and have about 210 yards left for your third shot...

WHAT DO U DO.

Flop shot- not a huge swing flop shot, just kind of like a regular pitch shot with an open blade- this shot spins a lot with a 64* wedge lol

You're on the downslope of a fairway bunker with an awkward stance. You have 150 yards to the green and you have a 1 shot lead. The guy who's playing with you is in 2nd 1 shot back, and he sticks his approach shot to within tap-in range and it's sure that he'll make his birdie. What do you do?

Take out a 5 iron (175 yards for me), put it on the 100 yard marker, pull out a sand wedge and knock it stiff, and make birdie. I don't think the guy will make a 50 footer- if he does, he deserves to win. I couldn't reach the green if I tried. I'd make birdie, take the tie, or hope he 3-putts for an embarrasing par.

You have a 6 foot putt to win. It has a huge break from left to right, and if the ball misses, you'll have another long puttfor the tie. Do you A) hit it firm to the center/left edge, B) play the huge break, or C) Hit it lightly and play for a 2-putt??

normal 3 iron to the middle of the green

your on the 18th hole, a par 4 and you opponent, who your tied with gets on in 2 to about 50 feet. your in a greenside bunker with a huge lip and the pin is right over the lip, do you try to knock it close over the lip, or do you play to the middle of the green where the lip is not as big?

5 iron, 5 iron, wedge. From there I still have a good chance of birdie.

I will take an example from my course. Play a shot roughly 190 yards to the edge of the dogleg leaving the same distance again to the flag? Clear over trees and hit it about 240 yards leaving you about 120 yards? Or take out the big dog and hit it over out of bounds - a carry of about 270 yards but leaving a short pitch to the green?

Over the trees with 120 to go.

You've got a full wedge into a green with a backstop behind the flag. Do you fly into the backstop and risk taking bogey by going over but leave yourself a tap-in birdie if it works?

No, I don't, for the most part. Maybe if I was pressing, but I would probably chase an 8 iron onto the green. If it's short, I have an uphill putt, and if it's long, the backstop should help a bit.

You're on the 17th hole in the final round of the U.S. Open. You're a shot behind and playing with the leader.

The 17th is a long par five. It's a forced layup for all but the longest players. The pin is tucked front right, 15 feet on the green. You and the leader both lay up to a safe distance. The leader hits first, and puts it in the middle of the green, with an easy two-putt. You've got 120 out, lots of space to the left. A false front is front-right. Anything right of the pin will spin back into a collection area, where 3/25 people on the day have gotten up and down.

Do you go for the par, and hope for another par on the extremely difficult 18th, or attack the pin?

That would be a time to be aggressive for me. I'd hit a knockdown pw straight at the pin, if it has any curve at all it will be a draw away from trouble, then sink the putt.

your go-to shot, fade or draw?

BTW...Kyle I think this is a great thread!

This is a great thread!

I appreciate it guys, merci beaucoup. :idhitit:

Play allll the break so that Taylormade can make a better commercial than Nike did with Tigers shot.

You have 260 to the green and you have an uphill lie. Your 1 up in the match and your oppenent has already laid up to the par 5 but you know he will make birdie because he is a great wedge player.

What do you do?
