Question about Maxfli Revolution Multilayer 100

Last weekend I found a Maxfli Revolution Multilayer 100 while ball hawking with my 6 year old on a cold day. I cleaned it up and putted around with it and found it to be the softest ball I've ever struck that was not a balata.

 

When were these balls made? I'm assuming by the name of the ball they came out in the 1999-2002 timeframe when wound balatas were being replaced by multilayer urethane balls. True? Also, does this have a urethane cover? It looks like it because the paint has chipped off in a couple of locations revealing a yellowish cover (like a ProV1).

 

Any other thoughts on this ball?

These were my ball of choice for about 3 years. They are a wound ball with urethane cover. Very soft and still my favorite ball for feel around the green with putter and wedges. Distance off driver was good but it spins much more than the current balls. Couples and a few others played them on tour.

I played a sleeve of these a few years back. I had never heard of them but new of Maxfli. Like ctonr said, good driver distance but you better have hit it perfect because, for me, my miss back then was a wicked slice and no ball "moved" like this ball. It would go out 100 yards and literally make a right turn and go another 150 yards, lol. It was kinda freaky. Then again, on a 60 yard wedge shot with my sand or gap I could pin hunt most anything. Spun like crazy. Would land, hop forward just a foot, peel out and then take off backward when it got traction and sometime it would spin back 4-6 feet. I have a hard time doing that with todays balls. I can get the ProV1, Zstar and Wilson FG to come back a couple of feet when I seriously bite down on wedge shot. The again, I have a pretty shallow level of attack to compensate too.
