Titleist state that AP1's can go up to 4 degrees upright and 2 degrees flat from standard.

Not sure how this can be? A cast club is a poured club and has a very random molecular structure. I can see no reasoning why it can be bent more in 1 direction than the other?

I'm sure these can be bent but are at risk of breakage if a limit is past.
Cast in most cases is 2 degrees.

the reason I'm guessing is related to the shape of the clubhead itself. You have a corner formed by the head and the hosel....by bending it flat, you stress that inner part of that corner. With some alloys, such as those used in a casting, that can cause breakage.

Sorry to threadjack a bit, but how about Adams. I have a set of A7 that I wanted to get bent upright 2* but the two golftowns near me said they would do them but they didn't recommend it as they would be likely to break and it would be my risk. I am using a different set but still have these in the garage.

Perhaps that is what their belief is. The corner may bend easier, but the other side has to come with it.
I pretty much go by feel, and I can get a sense when nearing the limit.

I will say this though, I do find I can flatten heads easier than I can upright them,
so......maybe......possibly....still don't think so??

Just my .02 as I gamed AP1's this summer. I'm 6'4 and had them bent 2*up in the spring. By last week they had returned almost to stock. Couldn't figure out why i was pushing everything towards the end of the season. I now know why... I picked up a set of srixy 701's on the bay and plan on uprighting them because I actually need 3* upright and knew the AP's weren't gonna do it...
