Ok, every body, I am getting a little tired of my current set-up and want your opinions on what to put in the bag. I am a longish hitter, average is about 280-285 with a controlable swing, so I don't hit many long irons. I have recently found myself at alot of funny yardages (115, 110, 95) where I could choke down a pw or go at 54. I am thinking about adding an extra wedge to compensate for my shortcomings, ie. I am thinking about droping my 2 iron in favor of a 52, 56, 60. What do you think?

The current set-up is: Driver- 8.5
3 wood- 15
2-PW- 19...48
SW- 54
LW- 60

Id get like a 50* wedge

If you dont mind the gap between 3 wood and 3 iron, go for it. I'd say 48* pw, 52* gw, 56*sw, 60* lw. It's whatever you are comfortable with.

I recently dropped my 2-iron and went for a 47/52/56/60 set up and I would never go back. Once you do it you discover how little you hit long irons and the extra wedges give you so many different options. I can only reccomend this set up.

get a 56 instead of a 54, then get a lighter PW, or a strong gap wedge. and take out the PW u got now.

The other thing to consider is how often you hit long irons off the tee. I hit my 3 iron off lots of tees, so I wouldn't be as inclined to drop it and put in another wedge.

I actually love the setup youve got bc thats what i play. you should just work on you half wedges bc those are really important shots. i know i hit lots of 2 irons so i wouldnt drop mine.

Drop the 2 and 3 iron - or 2 and 4 iron. My theory being, most people who can hit a 3 iron can hit a 4 iron just as far.

 

Replace the 54 wedge with a 56 - this will close the 27 yrd gap between the 54 and 60.

 

Add a 52 wedge to fill the gap from 100-130. Currently you have 23 yrd gap here, this gap will increase b/c the 56 will replace the 54 wedge.

 

Add a 5 hybird - something around 20 degrees. These utility clubs are worth their weight in gold. A golfer can come up with very creative ways to use these clubs - example, good for long bump and runs around the green and they are excellent for punch shots. JMO!

I would drop the 2 iron and go 52 56 60. I have this set up and its great! just looking at your yardages, its funny how things end up. Cuz I hit my wedges about 10 yards farther than you, and you drive it about 20 yards farther than me.
