Stratton's WITB ~Red White & PING~ **NEW UPDATE VIDEO PAGE 18**

Recommended Posts

If you can't tell, he plays for the Westlake Chaparrals
Weather was good this afternoon and I got off work soon enough for Stratton and I to set up and photograph his WITB set. We rigged fishing line to hold his clubs up for the one exploded shot. Easy to get rid of in PS, but a pain in the rear to get set up!

When we get better weather this week, we are going to set up to do another shot at the Contest WITB. Lot better pics will be there and I will attach a few here as well. These were taken on the range and I don't think his irons were even clean.
Jordo, his dots are stripped and the numbers are dirty :)

Very nice, it would be so nice to be sponsored by a big company like PING and get everything under the sun made for you - but I'd be happy just to be GOOD enough to get sponsored!

Love reading your posts Deerslayer, can't wait to see Stratton tearing up the Tour in 5-10 years.

Very impressive set of photographs! I can see that someone has great talent in photography and artistic display. The marketing guys could use some of your input.

Oh and BTW, that is a gorgeous bag full of colour co-ordinated kit. :clapping:

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

nice setup your boy has. How does he feel the S56's hold up vs a forged blade in feel and performace?

J13,
Stratton went from using the Callaway Prototypes to the S56. He went from one of the softer forged heads to the S56 and never has looked back. He says the S56 have a soft feel even being SS. Main difference is the performance. You have to get used to the performance of these out of the rough and bad lies compared to a blade like the proto. These don't grab in heavy rough and the ball comes out hot. Personally, I didn't think he would switch. But in one long session on the range with the S56 and he didn't hesitate to switch. He can still easily work the ball both ways, but is much more consistent with these blades both in accuracy and distance. He is a believer in the S56

Gotcha I know some mini tour guys that swear by them and they used to play Titleist forged blades. I have the mp68's right now but am thinking about switching it up as I'm a litte tired of running through forged blades in 2 seasons. I play competitively so I'm playing/practicing 5 days a week so my irons get beat up pretty good in no time flat. I'm glad they are starting to design true players cavity/blades that have a softer cast feel as you can run over them with truck and they are fine. I can't stand browning anymore, used to think it was cool to have it right in the middle of the clubface of the iron but not so much at this point. Anyway tell straton to hit the short game practice facility and don't get too carried away with the s56's LOL

Stratton is the same way. One thing he does is cleean the face completely off between shots on the range especially with wedges. He will not hit a shot with anything on the face to preserve the grooves and face. As I am sure you know, there is no comparison with wear on these compared to a plated forged iron. He likes the soft feel of a good forged iron and if he wasn't getting that in these, he would be gaming a set of the protos that sit in my garage collecting dust. He wore through the protos in 18 months, so I had just picked up another set prior to him going with PING

"How are the clubs standing up"
Fishing line forming an "X" tied to four golf shafts stuck in the groud. PITA to set up, b ut a cool effect. Everyone at the club would come look and ask what the heck were we doing. Used photoshop to make the line disappear where you could see it in the glare of the sun.
We made a simple holder that held the clubs head up to take those pics with 3" sqaure panel wire or in Texas "cattle panel"
