Stratton is the same way. One thing he does is cleean the face completely off between shots on the range especially with wedges. He will not hit a shot with anything on the face to preserve the grooves and face. As I am sure you know, there is no comparison with wear on these compared to a plated forged iron. He likes the soft feel of a good forged iron and if he wasn't getting that in these, he would be gaming a set of the protos that sit in my garage collecting dust. He wore through the protos in 18 months, so I had just picked up another set prior to him going with PING

Cleaning between shots is a good habit for many reasons. Yeah honestly I have 1 season on my mp68's and I have the brown circle on 3 irons out of 7(not counting wedges as mine are cast.) Not much you can do but it does get annoying

Digital loft on these 3 wedges are 48,55,60. He also has a 60/10 Sand Wedge that doesn't have the TS grind. He liked the Tour S pitching wedge better than the S56 pitching wedge so that is why he has this one . Also, he has two G15 drivers, the 7.5 digitally reads 8.0 and he has a 9.0 digitally reads 8.5, but it is 2* flatter. Shafts are all the same.
Any reason why he chose stainless vs rustique in wedges?
He tested wedges for a loooong time, trying all of the S56, tour-s in both rustique and SS in all conditions, bunkers etc. In the end, he thought the feel of the SS was as soft as the Rustique and the durability would be a lot better. He likes to keep his grooves sharp and fresh on his 60, but doesn't mind a little wear on his 56 and 47.

douggolf, I will take a clip of him tomorrow morning. He is in a HS tournament today and tomorrow morning. His team shot 293(+5) and he shot 71 (-1) today. He fizzled down the stretch a bit today. His round today should have been really low.

Nice setup, ive watched some videos on your son from the links you have provided in previous posts He looks and sounds very disciplined.
Does he have a diet plan and workout routine?

I was wondering what is his current height and does he play his clubs std length or below?

Also what are his current Full swing yardages?

Shaanko,
His high school's golf team is run like a D1 program. Two golf specific workouts a week(1 before school), two qualifiers a week. Great golf program.
I have some video of him from todays tournament uploading as we speak. I will post some video so you can see his swing.
In his high school tournament today (final day) in TOUGH conditions on a very tough course, Stratton shot -2 70 to finish -3 for the event winning medalist by 6 shots and he began the day in a three way tie for second. Stratton is short. He as a sophomore is only 5-3 to 5-4 right now. His length is unbelievable for his size. His carry with the driver is consistently 260 average with at least 20yds roll. His descent angle with the driver is 38-39 degrees with this setup so he gets some roll and when he rips at one, gets it 290+. His game is off the tee. He will miss no more than 1 or 2 fairways a round on a tight course. He is really good around the greens and is a streaky putter. In big tournaments, he doesnt have a round over 78 in a year. He plays what his coach and I call "boring golf" - down the middle, on the green two putt par. His last 5 tournament rounds now have been under par from minimum 6800yds on top tier courses all with course ratings above 74. In those three events, he has now won medalist honors in two. I will post video when it finishes uploading.

Williamo,
The digital loft of the two drivers is only about a half degree difference. The main difference is the lie. From listening, it sounded like they wanted him to try a flatter driver with a half degree more loft. The 7.5 loft is adjusted to 8.0 and the 9degree is adjusted to 8.5 but is 2 degrees flatter. His spin numbers with the 7.5 were a little lower than they wanted, so that is another reason for the second setup. What he tested was another 7.5 head trying to add a degree loft which was tough to get, so they built a 9 degree setup and adjusted it. It came last week and we haven't been on a Trackman, but ball flight of this setup is what Stratton wants. He bagged it during this tournament and smoke it for two days. I think it accomplished what they wanted in ball flight and contact.

jbrunone,
Flintrock Falls is a Jack & Jack II Nicklaus design that is a TOUGH track here in the Austin area. Some of the most undulated greens you will find anywhere. Tight and tough course. They played it at 6800 this week which is a combo of gold/black. The hole he is on is now #2 (they switched nines from the design) which is a 160yd par 3. pin is up front is tougher than it looks because how narrow the area is. If you bail long left, you are dead. No way to get up and down from a dip left of the green that slopes away from that area to the hazard. That shot played probably 150- and is down hill, so he knocked down an 8 i think. When the pin is over the bunker like day 1, it is a full 6 or 7 iron. Shortest par three on the course, but a tough one. The current #9 on this course, (was originally #18) is what I think is one of the toughest par 4's in Texas.

did they put that logo on the towel, or did you all sew it on there?
