Srixon Z-Star X vs. Pro V1x

Does Z Star X spin more off of irons and wedges?
For some reason I keep trying balls and keep coming back to the good 'ole Pro V1x. I'm working my way through 2 dozen Pentas now and will probably end up back at the Pro V1x. The normal Pro V1 spins too much into the greens for me. The Pro V1x rolls out a little most of the time which is ok. Although, I would not mind a little reverse-action every now and then either. LOVE the softer feel of the normal Pro V1 though. Pentas are so-so IMO.

My question is, how does the Srixon Z-Star X stack up to the Pro V1x for those that have played both? The charts on the Srixon site show the Z-Star X as longer off the driver and with more spin into greens. I don't put 100% faith in such charts though (since they are advertising the Srixon ball). But it does say the Z-Star X has a compression of 105 or something and says "best results for 105 + mph swing speeds." My SS avg. is 105 so now I'm wondering if I could get anything out of it?

Thinking about picking up a dozen Z-Star Xs from lostgolfballs.com just for kicks. Should I waste my time with these or just go back to the faithful ole' Pro V1x?

Thanks!

I played a version of the Pro V since it came out. I've played the Pro V1x extensively for many years. Occasionally, I would try other balls, only to go back to the Pro V1x pretty quickly. I won a few Srixon Z Star X tour yellow balls in a raffle and decided to give them a shot at the beginning of last year. I was extremely impressed. The ball was great in all conditions, spun more than a ProV1x off my wedges and short irons and was noticeably longer off the tee. Although I wasn't a big fan of the yellow golf ball, I was a big fan of the ZStarX. When I found out I could buy them in white, I was sold. I played these balls all last season, and just recently bought another 4 dozen for this year for 30 a dozen permanently knocking the Pro V1x out of my bag.

I think the Z Star X is a high swing speed ball, mine hovers around 115 with my driver. If you're playing the Pro V1x ball though, you should like the ZStarX, I know I do!

What about the Srixon Z-star XV? Anyone know when this ball will come out to the public? This ball is supposed to be ridiculously long!

I heard someone say April or something like that. But I also heard that they'll be around $80 a dozen. If that's true or not I have no idea

I would try the Z-star x. But I have also heard the new Z-star xv will be a special one as well.
