I own it. For the "90% discount" over other GPS units, it's far and away a steal.

I use a laser finder in addition to Golfshot, but Golfshot offers a ton more when it comes to stats, score, overhead, etc. You may have a 3y variance, but so do all GPS. My laser is usually within a foot. I have the utmost confidence in a laser, and if you made me pick one, I'd take that. Actual is better than triangulation. However, for $30, the overhead, the distance tracking, the scoring, and the usefulness is right up there with $300 units.

The app is well worth it, even if you just plan your round in advance.

If you have specific questions, let me know. I'd be glad to advocate for it.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

Let me say right out of the gate I don't work for Golf Shot or whoever makes this app. I golf maybe 4-5 times a month if I'm lucky. I'm your avg user. I've owned BOTH of these products and I'm just so amazed how much better this APP is than the Skycaddie SGX. Before you guys start getting all crazy telling me Skycaddie walks their courses, etc. Just my personal opinion here but the Golf Shot APP is just so much more user friendly and has cooler features. I purchased the SGX last year in June when they were released and I was annoyed with all the updates, crashing, etc. Finally maybe 2 months into owning it I FINALLY got to a point where it was 100 percent functional. I was really excited about the Smart Tags for the SGX but that never came out so that was another blow. I ended up selling my SGX since I stopped playing for a while.

Ive been doing my homework for the past 2-3 weeks as to what app to try on my iphone4. There were a few free ones and a few with some fees but ultimately decided on the Golf Shot and man what a lucky choice i made here. The yardages seem accurtate. The touch feature is wonderful. The Aerial view is just awesome! I was able to take score (SGX does not have this feature) AND I was even able to send text messages while waiting on the busy par 3's and surf the net for college basketball scores! The only concern I had before the round was with the battery life but to my surprise it actually only went down to about 55 percent (I did only play nine holes) so it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be considering i was still texting, surfing, etc too. I don't know if I would have made it through the 18 with the constant texting but I would guess maybe? If I wasn't texting or surfing the net it definitely would make a round of 18 pretty easy with plenty of life to spare. I just purchased the Mophie battery extender for 100 dollars so that should solve that.

Figure you spend 100 for the battery extender and 30 for the app. Your at 130 dollars for a GPS that I feel is much better than the SGX which I paid 399.99 plus tax. Not to mention the 29.99 a year price as well.

If anyone of you are on the fence It's worth the 30 dollars.

Get the pay version. It's well worth it. Battery life won't suffer. I use it for 18 holes while running Pandora in the background. The stereo is blue tooth so it's not charging on a dock and I still have around 40% after the round.

+1 on this advice. NM forgot to mention what I call the "Skycaddy Dance" & downloading all the courses before a golf trip. And of course....before each trip....Skycaddy has a software update to be downloaded before you can get to the courses you need.

For a onetime $30....this is a steal. And you get a little notice from iTunes when the software needs updating. Yes...it will wipe out your battery life on a four-hour, 18 hole round....but a $30 battery case (Energizer....Rocketfish, etc.) takes care of that issue. Lastly....Golfshot is plenty accurate for 95% of the golf world. If plus or minus 3 yards is too big a variance for your game...then you probably have a full time caddy following you around.

This is a no-brainer.....spend the $30 for Golfshot....and the $30 for battery case....and you'll never look back....or be asked to do the Skycaddy Dance.

I picked up an auxiliary battery called the "veho pebble" for around $40 and use it with my iPhone 3GS and GolfShot. It's one of the higher capacity portable USB batteries out there. I can typically get 2 full rounds per charge of the pebble assuming my phone was close to fully charged to start with. And for the record, that is with no effort whatsoever to conserve battery. I leave everything on, including the screen, for the entire round. It's also a great battery for travelers. It can recharge a 20% charged iphone roughly 3 times before it needs recharging itself.
