My home course - Whitestone Golf Club, Benbrook TX

The front 9
Welp, decided to get away tonight, my wife didn't like it but hey, what are you gonna do. She asked me if I was really going to play golf becuase I was taking the camera. :(

1: 4
2: 4
3: 3
4: 4
5: 4
6: 4
7: 4
8: 7
9: 5
Total: 40

Hole 1
Par 5
562 Yards

Long par 5 to start your day. Creek between the fairway and the green. Not really in play unless you mess up your approach (which I normally do). Didn't today, hit a great shot to the green to 8 ft and putted in for birdie.

Hole 2
Par 4
362 Yards

Nice par 4 with bunkers down the left if you hit it short and left. I normally fade it off of the bunker or go right over top of them and let the slope bring the ball to the fairway. Green is guarded by massive amounts of sand and grass bunkers. Scored a 4 here, looks easy but it's a tough green.

Here is the Windmill between the 2nd and 3rd holes. Can't have a golf course without a windmill right?

Hole 3
Par 3
135 yards

Easy little par 3 with a very sloping green. Everything that lands goes to the right so you want to hit it pin high and left to let it feed. Came very close to a hole in one here one day. Within 3 inches. Great little par 3 nestled in.

Hole 4
Par 4
383 yards

Trees left and right on this one. Gotta have a straight drive. If I'm hitting it bad it goes left and into the trees at the part furthest from the tee box. I should just hit 3 wood to take it out of play but I want to hit my wedge into this green. They usually stick the pin behind the bunker on the right of the green. Can't really see it in this pic.

Hole 5
Par 3
168 yards

The only water on the course is on this hole. Most people get freaked out by it but it's not that big of a deal. Just hit it long and you'll be fine. Land in the bunker behind the green and you might as well say your last rights. Skull that bunker shot and it's into the water with you, hitting 5.

Hole 6
Par 4
425 yards

Pretty straight away par 4. Just hit it down the middle and keep it out of the bunker. It plays long so your approach is usually 180 into the wind. Long green and a mini creek in front that will catch any runners.

Hole 7
Par 5
545 yards

Long par 5. Hit it down the middle, lay up and then go to the green. If you go for it in 2 you'll end up in the creek. Unless you smash your drive over 300 you're laying up.

Here is the green from the cart path. Nice view eh?

Hole 8
Par 4
410 yards.

Straight away, don't hit it right or left. If you rip it down the middle 235 you'll hit a down slope and your drive will be easily 320 yards and nothing more than a wedge into this pretty flat green.

Hole 9
Par 4
312 yards (if you go for it)

It's driveable but you HAVE to put it on the side the pin is on. If you don't there is a gigantic drop off in the middle of the green you have to putt through which makes this hole a nightmare.

Welp that's my day. Shot a 4 over 40 which wasn't too bad as I stopped and took a lot of pictures. Hit the ball pretty well.

Thanks for joining me :)

i make the drive from euless down to benbrook to play this course fairly often. its one of my favorite courses in the area. while its not always in the greatest condition ($30 at 12:00 on a weekend - what do you expect) its never in bad shape either. its also just a great test of golf. the course has everything, elevation changes, wide open holes, tight holes, long holes, short holes. its just a great layout. i'm picky about par 5's, and i love the par 5's here; 1, 7, 10, and 16. they are difficult to go for in 2 but fair in relation to par. just a great, great course. "a hidden gem in tarrant county".

not to be picky, but its Whitestone Golf Club, not whitestone hills.

You're right..I call it Whitestone Hills becusae I live in Whitestone hills..heh..

You should let me know when you are gonna play down here. I'll go a round with you. Right now the course is in great shape. The rain the past few weeks helped a lot. They really need to do something about the fairways though. There's no chance of taking divots after hole 5. Every fairway is baked.

I've only played there once. The time I played - it was pretty dry and rocky. I recall it was challenging in certain holes as well.

But......I drive by there all the time on the way to Motorsport Ranch (in Cresson), to wear out my tires and warp my brake rotors!! hee hee! :(

i might be out sunday. i was thinking of heading in that direction to play southern oaks for the first time, but i just put a new shaft in the driver and think i'd rather play a course i know rather than an unknown while i test the improved driver out.

No worries. Going to California for a week for my Birthday. Will be back next Sunday. Drop me PM if you ever want to go out. I go out after 5 mostly. Not going to be able to do that here soon.
