hi all, abt 2 weeks ago i was in Il abt an hour from Chicago, Crete to be exact for a factory acceptance test...
well went to Studio B for a fitting and brought along my first(and i thought my only Bettinardi) Bettinardi SB 1 Japnese release...which i got in Bangkok on another work related trip

anyway this is my experience
got there 1030 and went straight up to putter heaven. Met Ben the putter fitter guy, who is very patient and willing to listen to all my putting sob stories. He had me try all the putters that fit my eye and feel. the one thing i did know before i got there was the fact i knew what weight was the best for me in terms weight in my hands and what length i liked...340g and 34" and usually 70* lie angle...i digress...oh soft carbon also prefered

finally i settle on the MC series...as you will see in the pics if i can get it to work...1st time attaching pics...the MC was the 350 gram model and Ben made up a 340g head for me and sd "if i didnt like it , i didnt have to buy it, just keep trying until we get it right" WOW...so he gets it all up and running, chose royal STS grip (which i use on all my putters)with the Bettinardi name on it. While it was drying we get to the fitting of my SB 1

got on the putting mat with a hole in the ground about 10/15feet away facing this graphed wall--1 box represents 1 degree, left, right, up down and a mirrior for the laser on the putterface, I line up wait for the 3 beeps...as the cameras and computer warms up...and away i go...not even coming close to that hole...massive decel

the camera showed that lie agle was too upright even at 70* and that the face angle was pointing towards the heavans...which is what i do right after i putt, look up to the heavans and hope i hit it right...
face agle showed that I increase the loft to about 8*
putt didnt start rolling until about 4-5' after hitting the ball

Ben then bends lie angle to 68* and loft 1* thats scary(all this is "I think"only...)hit another putt...and BAM it goes in that stupid hole good roll too, but not good enuff for Ben, after some minor tweaking...BAM hole is not stupid anymore and the camera is showing roll right before my front foot...I'm right handed btw and play to a USGA 7.2...and i can't putt or never had the confidece...after 2 weeks confidence is getting better

Ben is a great guy and thts one of the reason why i think the studio is such a great place. I guess its their dedication to make you the best putter you can be with the best equipment...and not at unreasonable prices
there are putters there that cost the earth but there are putters there that you dare take out too.

when i got home to Malaysia...its the tropics and the sun is bright, BRIGHT and there was a shine to the MC series like polish, which i removed with some rubbing alcohol and then to my horror i thought that i may have wrecked the putter being soft carbon and all...e-mailed Ben and he reassured me that it wouldnt rust and if it did send it back and he'd take care of it. Man, that's service

anyway rambled on long enough, thank you Ben, thank you Studio B and thank you to the company that bought the equipment that i sell(i'm the agent for them in Malaysia) and sending me there for the testing! and thank you to my wife for putting up with my golf obsession...she knew i was going to buy another putter when i was trying to convince myself i wasnt going to get another Bettinardi...my dad has inherited the SB 1

Tariq...how cool is the Studio ? I can't wait to go back...I'm waiting on the BB5 to get released...hope Mr.Bettinardi does it Carbon :drinks: I have to agree Ben is great to work with and will hook you up for sure.

Great story Tariq! I would love to go to the Studio and get fit, I've heard nothing but good things about them! Service is top notch and they really now what they're doing.

Riuzzi yeah, i eally like the black finish. it was kinda shiny/glossy and that finish on the face is when i used the rubbing alcohol...i didnt want to remove the paintfill B, so i didnt really give the an agressive wipe.

 

i actually like the feeling of the MC more than the SB it could be bcos of the finish. its not as muted as the SB but still soft.

The SB i have adjusted to my dads specs when he was fitted at by someone elSCe...3*loft 72* lie and 35.5" measured from the face

 

Jimmy, the Studio is a great place and the people there make it great

Do they have Center Shafted putters and how much $$$$ are wo talking about forking over to get a putter fitted to you?
