UST Frequency Filtered Putter Shafts

Here's the info for those that were asking me for it.

Hey Guys,

I know some of yall asked me awhile ago about the Frequency Filtered Shafts. Sorry it took me so longto reply. Here's the info:

Weight = 106 Grams

The interesting thing about these shafts is that because they have a graphite butt end they feel quite head heavy. I wonder what the difference in swingweight is between this and a regular steel shaft at the same length with the same putter head weight.

That would be an interesting experiment as a standard putter shaft averages 120-130 grams +/- so you are actually saving 14-26 grams just by installing it.

Does anyone know how much it would affect the swingweight? My 33" 350gm Circa #3 currently is at D0 and I would like it to be a little heavier. Maybe this would be a good solution?

It's a great solution chuckyeun. I am going to guess that it's at least 2 swingweight points at 33".

 

If you try it, post back to report how much of a difference it makes. It's a great feeling putter shaft.

I gotta agree its definitely not the most pleasing to the eye, but it holes so many more putts than the Newports I've had. Just the regular Futura.

I had the Mamiya OP version of the Frequency Filter shaft installed today and it made my Swingweight go from D0.6 to D4. Feels much better now. I also noticed that on pure hits the putter feels even softer now. So far so good. We'll see how it goes after tomorrow's round.

Just never really liked that putter. Address profile is weird, Shape is too unconventional, Feel is way off being aluminum. Finsh...No thanks. Weight. Too Light. and on and on and on. The only decent one in my book was the Phantom Mallet 2. And that's still iffy.

 

And No. I will NEVER have a futura in my collection for a couple of reasons

 

1)Don't like em for every reason mentioned above

2)They don't hold value at all. Depreciation is way too much

I've never seen one with the type of bend angle you would need to match on that putter.

well I love the futura for a couple of reasons

 

my first scotty, I will probably keep it for ever because of that

with this putter, I have made the most birdies I have ever made

I can't afford a newport 2 or another model so it was cheap and a scotty so I bought it(I had a old Ray Cook Blue Goose III)

I am getting a YES! Tracy(well, pretty sure I am) so I will see if the futura will be put on the bench and the differance in feel and weight, yes the futura is light but you could always add weight.

That's why I always say. To each his own. I know some people that putt great with it. Just not me. LOL If it works for you though, more power to you. ;)

 

You can add weight, but it changes the overall feel I found. Oh well.

 

I think you will like the Tracy. Nice and Face balanced if I remember themodel correctly, even though I did just do a post on it. LOL

You are right about depreciation, I got my mint 33" Phantom Mallet 2 for 110 bucks. One of the few Scottys that is not collectible at all it seems (futura line).

Back on topic, I got a chance to use the Circa with the Frequency Filter shaft in it today and it felt great. I definitely like the increase in swingweight and the softer feel. Though my putting stats don't reflect it.

So it's a bit more than 3 SW points at 33"? Was it the same length and same grip before and after the reshaft?

 

You might call UST regarding the shaft for a futura. According to a press release there are "Seven-bend tip profiles include straight 0.370, straight 0.355 tapered, flare, single bend, double bend one-plane, double-bend two-plane and 0.395 over the hosel."

If you look at the top, I listed the 7. I've called UST, but they were no help. Remeber that the futura has the really sweeping shaft angle Never seen another shaft like it. Here's a off ebay depicting what I am talking about.

Rather than look it up, it is easier to ask here. What do these shafts go for??? I just saw one where I get my club work done and was told that the shop had reshafted and pured, cost the guy a C note.
