Cleveland VP Milled Series Putters

Recommended Posts

With the Visual Performance (VP) Milled Putters, Cleveland Golf has produced a series of putters that will aid players by getting them into the correct address position every time. Using Dual Axis Alignment technology, golfers are now able to determine when their hands move out of position as well as detect when their eyes are not directly over the ball. These are the two major contributors to pushed and pulled putts. By addressing both of these issues, VP putters increase impact consistency. The results are true roll and better distance control.

Just ordered the top one and I'll let you guys know how it works.

The Sand Trap did a review of it and it seemed to be a pretty good putter.

Can't beat the price either, it can be had for 60-70 bucks new on Ebay.

That alignment aid should be useful if it truly works.

Picked up the Milled VP 1 from eBay for 70 bucks and I love it.

Sets up well, and the alignment aid really really works.

Basically the black line aim aid that you normally find on a putter sits perfectly in a small notch on the the top of the putter. If you can't see the black line then you are standing too far away from or too close to the ball.

I could see how some people who have developed their own method would hate this but I personally love it and I think a lot of players would find it very useful. You literally have to want to stand too far away or too close to the ball to screw it up.

Feel is great off the face, very similar to the Cameron Studio series putters.

Overall you can't beat it.

For the price these milled face putters might be the most under rated putters on the market. I have the number one and the feel is great.

I have the VP1 in the black finish w/the insert. Love it - curious if the VP model in satin w/out the insert plays the same.

I recently acquired a VP milled #1 from eBay for about 50 bucks. Really lovely putter from out of the box. It has a Winn grip with something called dual alignment axis, which I think are the slightly rounded edges adjacent to the usual flat part. Since I also own a Cleveland Classic #1, I thought I would offer a little comparison. First, the milling on the two putters looks identical. One slight difference is that the VP has milling on the rear of the clubhead as well as the face. Obviously this has no effect on performance and is neutral cosmetically. The milling pattern itself is almost hypnotic. The topline on the VP is a little thicker and is distinguished by the alignment notch. Ive tried to use the notch a little, but it seems to put me in a very uncomfortable alignment with the putter. From my usual stance, the heel ends up being lifted way off the ground to get the notch to line up properly. I found that I putt better by ignoring it.

The quality of the putting feel is superb. Nice, true roll. Good ability to control distance. In that respect, it seems slightly better than the Classic. I also compared the club to an Anser 2 Scottsdale. It is a bit more compact with a much thicker topline and wider flanges on either side. Definitely preferred the milled face to the insert on the Scottsdale. Toe hang is quite similar on the VP, the Classic, and the Anser 2. Basically, one quarter to toe hang, which Ping tells me is perfect for my slight arc stroke. Overall, a very nice putter, especially for such a cheap price. I give it a big thumbs up.
