A little PING love - First the new Anser Milled No 1, combo of the Anser and Anser 2
followed up with the
Scottsdale and Redwood Anser/Anser2, the redwood has had a few mods made to it apart from the lead tape - I tried experimenting blow torching it, changed very little in colour even after 20 mins or so of torching, had expected it turn a goldish but not to be, lesson learnt. :):smilie_ping:

Shuv, yes Santa has been good to me I must have behaved this yr. :)

Have really liked the look of these for quite some time, sold a couple of sets and a few others to pay formthese puppies so I hope they treat me well. No not really had opportunity to properly give them a run out as yet, only down the range. Heads are a little smaller but they do look ever so slinky from above. Am looking forward to the season.

Very impressive mate, never seen this before so apologies for the late attendance !

Love it, your house is more like a golf store complete with workshop and driving range, superb !!!

Keep up the good work double M's from the man like The G ! :)
Better late than never 'G', as ya can see I am a Mizzy man at heart much like your fine self, very difficult to stray from the line once you stepped over it. Mainstays of my golfing years has been TP9 (late 80's early 90's) and TP Original's (early 90's until mid late 90's), and I thought the TP9's were the bizness until I tried the Originals, now it's pretty much 29 and 14's all the way, they always take some shifting out of the bag., whatever comes along.

Indeed the shed (workshop) is a much required place of residence for moi with 3 kids and wife to boot, it sees more of me in the summer than they do! ;)

Reminds me I Must look into some winter heating.....

Few Other Putters:-
First a pretty special one, a Bettinardi Mag44 with a Hogan face. This was once owned by Paul Lawrie who after speaking with him was given it at the US open in the early to Mid 2000's. The neck had been bent quite drastically (looked in anger) but he told that he had it bent purposely "so the stem sat better as I like the leading edge slightly offset"!

2012 sees a new set of irons take pride of place, have been lusting after these for some time now, Scratch SB1's 3-PW (3 gets dropped) with a 53 and 58 degree wedges to boot.
The Copper Eye 2 still keeps her place althought does now and then get replaced for a hybrid depending on weather etc.
Driver is a TM R9 Stiff shaft at 10.5 degree which gives me a differing flight, again this get's dropped if it is windy.
Finally a New putter Bettinardi BB8 Proto with honeycomb milling pattern RJB2366
Also added a couple more putters whch have been added since, Serge Deschamps Centre shaft handmade and Uk putter maker Neil Webb.

Would'nt say I have pulled up any trees with set up but it get's me around.
First off a quick WITB, have gone back to the TM 425 for now as the Ping was playing up just a little:-

Bag from 2009/2010

Greetings all,

Here is my set up at the moment, I do have a bit of an obsession with putters which I have about 130 or so at the moment in various bags about the house, so that is the one club that get's the least time in the bag.

This partuclar anser4 has been in for a few months now but I sense is just starting to get itchy feet!

Anser 4 was ousted with Byron 007x in, the betti and Pal2 didnt last too long either!

Hope you enjoy.....

i am inlove with the putter collection, good to see the hogan bettinardi aswell. what is the webb putter like?
Webb putter is very good, cant say I know a great deal about them, it has plum brown finish is'nt BECU or any type of coppers but has a very nice feel, only putter indoors with it so far will try and get her to the course shortly!

I just found this thread and now my eyes have stopped watering enough to type I can add:
Mucho Mojo, that's a collection!
Love the Woosie Masters flat as a pancake lie putter. Legend. The Woosie Persimmons are class, if I remember right he wielded one on his instructional vid? Which I stupidly lost...doh!
Mucho gracias Iggy, I never saw Wossies instruction vid, wonder if 'THE GACHET' has that one? would love to see that, they are a couple of beautifull blocks the lines on the persimmon are all perfect heading out to the tip of the head, top quality, sadly x100's I can't no longer swing, would like to think I can but the computer says NO!

Gachet, fantastic picture, woosie in his prime was fantastic to watch, smooth as silk and such a fantastic striker of a ball, talking of persimmon I found this while nosing around Carnoustie's web site the other day, it was realed to commemorating the Hole Hogan's Alley (6th at carnoustie)

"To commemorate Ben Hogan's feat in 1953, today's professionals were invited to take part in a longest drive competition using a 1953 driver and old 1.62 golf balls. The winner was Arjun Atwal with a drive of 251 yards. Other notable entries were Paul Lawrie 245 yards, Adam Scott 231 yards, Vijay Singh 219 yards, Colin Montgomerie 203 yards and Sam Torrance 200 yards."

Adam Scotts eyes must have fallen out - crunching a driver and only going 231 yards with run on a links course......that is what golf is all about

More additions, a Sonartec 3 wood Stiff shafted, along with a titty 17 degree 909h hybrid voodoo stiff shaft.

Also shafted up a couple of Scratch AR1 heads (3 and 4) with DGS300 shafts to try them as a comparison with the SB1's

This is a fantastic set of clubs. You, sir, have an illness!!!

What part of Wales are you from and can you recommend any good links courses? I'm originally from Merthyr but moved to Notts 5 years ago. I never really played any decent courses in Wales and im looking for somewhere to play everytime i go back home.

From Merthyr best course close to you possibly would be the Rolls of Monmouth, great inland course, then a little further afield you have Southerndown Royal Porthcawl, Ashburnham, Pyle and Kenfig, Pennard all quality courses and at most an hour from Merthyr Also the new Nicklaus course at Machynys is good and pretty well affordable.

as for ilness yes sadly it's incuarable so the doctor says, just something I have to live with.

I thought this topic was supposed to be WITB, not WIMWC (What's In My Warehouse of Clubs)! Fun to look at though, and extrememly impressive...

Cheers jon, gives me much enjoyment, have been trying to create sets for each decade which will continue on forever probably, always in the search......

Found this little treasure, a driver I have been looking for quite some time, admittedly not your latest gretest White ghosted whatyamacallit but a driver which in my opinion was created by the greatst clubmaker of them all Harry Busson from Walton Heath, who created percy woods for a lot of the greatest players to take up this game.

Also a rather tasty Penna driver to go with it, both very nice pieces of furniture!

Will sit nicely in amongst my 1960's setup below

Also a couple of slightly newer models - Titleist 909h 21 degree Voodoo Stiff shaft

Hybrid Heaven here! Even ventured down the Ghosted route, which I am almost ashamed about!

PING REDWOOD CITY AND SCOTTSDALE MODELS

Ok time for my real passion (and in my opinion the best till last), the older Ping Models which were created by Karsten Solheim either in his garage in Redwood City Calif, or in the Scottsdale plant which he moved to later in the early to mid 1960's!

The Redwood putters built/cast (which was revolutionary at the time as most putters were forged and furthermore chromed) often have milling marks as small horizontal lines on the heel/toe ends where he would be balancing the putter (again a first).

Many of these putters also have numbers placed on the heads marking them as a displacement method within water as a method to sort out the putter within a batch.

Each model was sold for a princely sum of $17.50 most shaftbands were removed but a few still exist with the band on.

Grips were usually either the Golf Pride variations of the time (informer Gripwrite etc) of the much more fanciable hand wrapped leather 'T' grips (Clothes line grip as they were known)

OK enough of the history lesson First up the Redwood city models. These models are where the very first HEEL and TOE weighting models first surfaced:-

Love the look of the Scratch Blades! I've never hit Scratch irons, what feedback can anyone provide? Are they comparable to TaylorMade TP MB, or Titleist MB?

Titleist 913 D2 9.5*
Titleist 910f-d 15*
Titleist 910h 19*
Titleist 714 AP2 4-PW Project X PXI 6.0
Titleist Scotty Cameron GoLo
