Indoor Putting Mat

Fellow golfwrxer's,

The weather has definitely turned here in Ohio and it's time to look for a inexpensive indoor putting mat to work on the game in the off-season. I've seen mixed reviews on the Birdie Ball putting mat. Has anyone used the SKLZ Accelerator Pro putting mat or the Boomerang Carnoustie? I'm looking for a simple mat that won't curl up and rolls the ball true and at a realistic speed.

No complaints here about the Birdie Ball. Just ordered the 4x13, built a 2x4 base, installed real cups and got the Robocup ball return. Great setup IMO.

ive tried some of the skllz and other B&M store putting greens and they pale in comparison to the Truline big murph tourspeed that i purchased. of course the truline was around 400 but it has been well worth it.

Me too. Especially comments on ones that work well on top of carpet

I have the SKLZ Accelerator pro and it works just fine as a cheap indoor putting mat. Mine has a tendency to scrunch up on the sides a little bit but I think that might be more due to the rug underneath. I will say that having the lines is nice, because you can see if you're starting the ball off on line and also check the length of your back swing.

I'd love to see your setup!

I just bought a Birdie Ball after doing research here and other places. Delivered fast. Have not set it up yet, so cant comment on that.

Stimp was 9-10 for medium I think. I got 22. footers that was medium one way, fast the other. Their website has the stimpmeter info. Plus, they had some really great deals going on when I ordered last week; free upgrade from them, and found a coupon code online too.

Its warm enough to play golf in December, and now it rains every day. Gotta love Ohio.

Words can't describe how good BigMoss greens are. The only problem is that they are big $$$. OP, where are you located? What i reccomend is to find a putting turf company near you and inquire if they have scrap pieces that they'd be willing to sell you at a dicount. Their "scrap pieces" tend to be perfect! Thats how I got my green and i'm loving it!

Birdieballs nice enough although you'll feel ripped off when you first see it,,,,it's simply green foam matting material, but it works. I have mine on a basement cement floor and it rolls true, the cups work well to hold the ball. One caution, if you have a big dog, do not let it walk/run/play on the thing. If the dog has nails it will shred the mat. My sister in law and her German Sheppard stopped by to visit and it tore a few holes in the mat by just walking on it. Otherwise, it's a nice enough green to roll putts on.

Have the same one. For a little over $100, it is hard to beat. I am sure there are better putting mats, but you paid high dollar for them. I like and recommend BirdieBall for the value.

Big murph is awesome. I have a birdie ball and it's good for the price but it really needs a solid floor under it. Doesn't work well with carpet.
[/quote]

I have the Little Murph and it's great. Zero complaints and it's fine over berber carpet. I never roll it up, but it's easy to do so.

Great thread. I just ordered a Big Moss 15' x 2' putting mat with a hole on each end. Got a long hall way upstairs by my office. This should be much nicer than putting on carpet. Ordered mine from In The Hole Golf (website). $199 isn't cheap, but should be worth having from the reviews I have read here and elsewhere. Thanks for the ideas guys. Might add a Boomerang as well, heard great things about it.

I finally built a frame/base for my Birdie Ball green. I like it a lot more. I saw a bunch of cool posts about this on another site, and their cool work inspired me. My buddy was too into the beatdown FSU gave UNC in hoops today to bother moving out of the pics.

Looks great! I am debating on purchasing a BB green myself. Any feedback on the roll of this thing?

I have a BB green. It rolls true and you don't have to worry about creases in the mat when it arrives. When you first pull it out of the box you'll be a little disappointed since it's made of foam. After putting on it your disappointment will go away.

This is exactly how I felt. It lays flat and putts true. I use it on top of carpet and have no problem. It works well and was much less expensive than the others. Glad I purchased.
