i tend to move back and forth between the dart mallet and the odyssey two ball blade. i am a total scotty cameron nerd though. i just make a lot of putts with the dart. i don't feel very athletic with a belly putter personally
Hi Kevin,

Thanks for taking the time to come on-line to answer our questions. I have seen that your real loyal to your Odyssey Putter, is there something out there you are considering changing to, apologies if you have changed. Also would you ever jump on the bandwagon and go BELLY-PUTTER?

Thanks,
Jason P.

P.S. Love the WILSON Commercials, the guy is a classic tool!

Yes, I started out caddying at Chicago Golf Club in wheaton Illinois, about a mile from where i grew up. One of the best courses in the country. i love it. after i graduated college i went back to cadding at chicago golf a few summers to save up money for q school. i also caddied at whisper rock golf club here in scottsdale, saving up money, in 2003-2004. i wouldn't say it helped prepare for my life as a pro golfer, it just made me want to practice that much harder so that i could play my own ball and not chase someone elses

Hi Kevin. Thanks for stopping by. I heard that you started out as a caddy. If true, did the experience prepare you at all for life as a pro golfer?

My parents and I would play all over the chicago land area growing up. I played 3 sports throughout high school, tennis, and basketball, but just kinda fell in love with golf and continued to improve. by my senior year of high school i had gotten pretty good and was offered a half scholarship to duke. i've just continued to work hard and not take anything for granted. it's been a heck of a journey
What got you into golf, how did it all start. Thanks for being here, best of luck this year! :friends:

Just wanted to start by saying thanks for chatting with us. My question had to do with your success on the mini tours. I read that you burned out 3 cars and traveled all over the US to play golf. Was there ever a point when you wanted to give up or you didn't think that you were good enough to play at that level? If so, what got you through that? Also, what advice would you give someone who wanted to play on the mini tours, as far as what part of the game is most important? Thanks again.

P.S.- Seriously?

it's looking like the ping g20 to start this year. really straight driver with very low spin, good for me.
i would give my 2011 season a B. it was nice to finish 72 on the money list but I want to compete to win tournaments and i wasn't up in the hunt enough last year. i've been working my butt off this off season and am getting excited to get going next week in palm springs!
You changed back to the Cleveland driver from the T/M R11 about mid-season, which resulted in better driving stats & GIR stats. Have you settle in on what will be in the bag for 2012?

How would you grade your overall play in 2011? Your play in the four Majors?

Thanks, Kevin! See you and Mikey at the Humana.

i have worked extremely hard in the gym this offseason. i have gotten much more flexible and stronger in the hips, glutes and quads. i have messed with a bunch of drivers and have settled on the ping g 20 to start the year. my wedges, irons, 3 wood and hybrid are all good!
Hey Kevin,

Thanks for taking time to slum with us hacks.

What do you work on in the off season? Do you tinker with your equipment, or are you a once you are set you are set kinda guy?

Good luck in 2012.

Yes, it was VERY difficult at times. I was dead broke and left stranded on multiple occasions but I always had this burning passion to continue to work hard and make my way to the tour. every year i missed at q school made me that much more hungry to work harder to get there next year. i think it's something i get from my athlete, military father. he always told me if you want something bad enough, and your willing to outwork everyone else, you can really do anything. my passion right now is making this years ryder cup team. i know it'll take an awesome year, but i want it bad, in chicago about 10 minutes from where i grew up. it'd be the ultimate. as far as advice, you gotta chip, putt, and wedge it. there are guys out here that really don't hit it overly impressive, but they will get up and down from everywhere. that's what it takes. that and the work ethic to improve
Would you be willing to share a little about your putting practice...really just your practice routine in general?

Also, you mentioned growing up on a top course, but when you got to the Tour, was there a "wow" factor in the quality of the courses? Do the greens allow for a pure roll more often on Tour than not?

Thanks!

i try not to have too many superstitions. i warm up the same way ever day, mark my ball the same way, and use 1's on thursday, 2's on friday, 3's on sat, and 4's on sun
when i first got out there, joe ogilvie was kinda my big bro. he's also a dukie and has been great. since, really tom lehman has become a real life mentor and great friend of mine.
Kevin, I follow you on Twitter (I'm @OnePlaner) and have been a fan since the Torrey Pines in 2009 (I believe) where you were an alternate that got paired with Tiger. Thanks again for doing this.

My question is, who on tour have you reached out to for advice and guidance?

Thanks for coming here Kevin and good luck this season. As we are all club ho's here, how did you end up deciding on a certain shaft/head combo? We know that it has to be a combination of distance and accuracy, but at some point, one has to give way to the other. I'm sure that there are combinations that you could hit another 20 yrds furthur, but not neccessarily always in the short grass. How much yardage do you think you give up for accuracy?

Thanks again for making the time to [s]entertain[/s] join us! :)

most of my putting practice is downstairs on the accelerator 3. best 30 bux i've spent. it's just a putting mat that helps make sure your accelerating throughout your stroke and the putt. i really spend a lot of time on it. i also use those putting clips quite a bit, that make sure you catch the middle of the clubface or else the ball squirts off line. that's a good one cause it makes sure your hitting the sweet spot perfectly.
and yes, the greens on tour are awesome, for the most part. however late in a wave out on torrey or pebble, can get a little frustrating. :)
