any comparisons between vokeys and mpt's
I am in the market for a new set of wedges. I am currently debating between vokeys and mizuno black nickel mpt's. Right now the edge is leaning towards the vokeys simply because they offer the lofts that I want (50,54 and 58). I would have to have a 51 mizuno bent strong and either a 53 bent weak (but i want a higher bounce on my 54 and the 53 mizuno is rather low to start), or a 56 bent 2 degrees weak. On the other hand i love the feel of all mizuno forgings. I am planning to demo them but i will only be able to hit the 56 or 60 degrees in both. I am looking for any valuable input about the two wedges. Especially if anyone has hit both and can give an unbiased comparison between the two. I would love to hear about the feel, spin, distance and trajectory control and any thing else that you could think of between the two. Thanks a bunch.

I have played both. in fact I own a 60* in both, I don't think you could in anyway go wrong with either one. That said, I play the MPT for one reason and one reason only, spin. Must be my swing angle or something, but I put a lot of spin on the ball, and the Vokey really spins, too much for me

Couldn't agree more with GLL. I've got a Black Nickel Vokey and a Mizuno Raw Haze, both in 60*. For me the Vokey was real good around the greens for partial shots, but I wouldn't control my spin at all for full or even close to full shots, even after 2 years of use.

From the beginning the Mizuno had a great feel and when it hits the green it just stops, no unwanted spin. Can't really comment on durability since I've only had it about 3 weeks.

Both are great wedges, the Mizuno just fits me a little better.

Copy and paste from another thread - I wrote this:

I own both the Vokey Tour Chrome 52/56 and Vokey Spin Milled 60 and a set of the Mizuno MP T Black Nickel 51/56/60 and I honestly can say that I love both wedges very much - the Vokey are a bit more head heavy, the Mizzies have a nice tear shaped face and the grooves on my Mp T's spin almost as much as my Spin Milled - definitely more than my standard Vokey Tour Chrome.

I would rank them 10/10 both sets - so it's up to you to decide what to go for. You cant' go wrong with either set

The Vokey's are cast, the MP T's are forged.

I'm in total agreement with Claus's comments. I currently play the MP Chrome 52 & 58. These are being discontinued so you may be able to get a good deal. I just picked up a backup for both for $65 each at my local golf shop.

The only thing I will add is that to me, the MP's feel a touch softer than the Vokey's. Can't go wrong with either though...
