<div class="IPBDescription">Caught at Demo Day Pics and video...</div>Project X PXi shaft has a softer feel than PX and is lighter with minimal trajectory problems. As you go lighter the ball goes higher in most cases and Project X PXi accomplishes this. <br />
<br />
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wZ6g52zhC0w?rel=0&quot; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><br />
<br />
The new shaft is lighter (116 grams in the 6.5) than previous versions -- as a comparison the Dynamic Gold is 128 grams. This shaft has shaved off 12 to 14 grams depending on flex, and it is noticeable. The inner profile of the shaft has been changed. They took weight out of the center part of the shaft and moved it towards the butt and tip sections so the shaft plays a little more tip stiff. Because the tip plays a bit stiffer, they actually been have able to keep the same flight trajectory & spin characteristics, which means more distance. Greater distance by virtue of reduced weight properties. Tour-caliber spin control and tip stability in a lightweight package ... hallmarks of the PX franchise. Improved feel through optimized butt to tip stiffness calibration.<br />

    I took a 5.5 royal precision satin set and softstepped them twice. Lightweight, softer feel, decent flight (no ballooning), consistent distance.<br />
    <br />
    Amount of material (wall thickness) is consistent from butt to tip. <br />
    <br />
    A weak middle, with a beefy tip section is going to cause inconsistent ball flights....am I wrong? <br />
    <br />
    Golf shafts shafts are limited to how much an engineer can tweak them, and I dont see this change being an "improvement" over what the Project X series stands for, "tip stability with constant weights. Stepless shaft."<br />
    <br />
    Also, interesting move by the Project X rep to mention the flaws of the "old" project x shafts being too boardy and flexing down causes high ball flights. Great. So now if the pxi completely bombs (which IMO, it won't because i think the changes to the physical structuring of the shaft, will not be enough to see much of a change from previous models, and with the new satin finish and marketing, people will gobble these up like they do iPhones and iPads, even at high prices). Then you have a flawed old shaft and a flawed new shaft.

    Easyyy, would you say they would be apples to apples in the flex comparison between the 2? If you were playing 6.0's in the old ones, would the 6.0's in the PXi be the choice?

    Just had these shafts installed in my MP-59's and they are simply outstanding! Feel is superb and I have added maybe an extra club length! Was gaming PX 5.5 before and now have PXi 6.0 and the ball flight is slightly lower but peaks higher and seems to go forever! Can't wait to start gaming these when the season starts for real!! Fantastic shaft offering, definitely recommend trying these shafts out!

    I'm interested in hearing how these compare to the kbs tour shafts (feel, flight trajectory etc.).

    <br />
    I tested the new ones at 6.5 when I have played 6.0s of the standard PXs. I hit these next to DG S-300s. <br />
    The new PXI's were clearly lighter in weight and I felt that they played less stiff and I hit them higher in trajectory. But that is not unusual for me to do so with lighter weight shafts. At this point, I prefer my S-flex C-Tapers from KGS. But I will likely do some more rigorous testing later.

    I just ordered some I20's with PXI, PING only offers 6.0 & 6.5 I told them I wanted them to play to PX 5.5 stiffness and they told me to soft step them once. You would disagree with their assessment? I'm not sure if they have hit them. I have the c-tapers stiff in my anser's and they are too stiff for me. Just wondering if I should go 6.0 or 6.0 soft stepped?

    So this replaced the RIFLE series, correct? <br />
    <br />
    Lower trajectory and softer feel, slightly lighter. Sounds like the RIFLE.<br />
    <br />
    I wish they were cheaper. <br />

    What was the upcharge? I'd recommend soft stepping them if you can't get the 5.5. One soft step would make them around a 5.7.<br />
    <br />
    thanks -

    Yet again, I'm sure the PXi will flex like the PX, i.e. 6.0 will be 6.5, and softstepped will be 6.2-6.3.

    It actually plays a bit softer than the PX. I spoke to a second club fitter today and he too confirmed that it has a softer tip and they have been testing out a bit leaner than the PX. He did say that I should start with the same flex as I would or have had with the PX and if need be we can adjust. He was adamant that it does not play stouter.<br />
    <br />
    As a sidebar comment; the graphics are awesome on this shaft, but be prepared if you have the shaft splined/Flo...it may end up in an odd spot! For those who have a sensitivity to busy graphics, expect to have a visual challenge.

    How does the PXi 6.5 play compared to the DGX100? Launch angle? Apex? Spin? Distance?

    I really want to hear more about these, I play 6.0 non flighted now but these sound like characteristics of what I would like a little more, ordering new clubs this week. Are these available from Titleist yet? Are the 6.0 guys ordering 6.5?
