Titleist 735.cm

Who has them? And how are they?
I've played the 962b since it came out, and am considering a switch to the new 735 (chrome). I've been waiting for a forged iron from Titleist that met the asthetics of the 962b.

Can anyone provide a comparison of the two? And is anyone able to comment on the playability and/or look and/or general performance of the 735?

Thanks in advance for the opinions, feedback, and info.

I picked up a couple of weeks ago, and I really like them.  I came from xtours and MP32.  The 735 feel very solid.  The first round that I played with them, I holed out a 5 iron from the fairway.  Steve

I'm with you having gone X-Tours, MP-32s, back to X-Tours and now the 735.CMs Seem to be the best of all worlds, a "real" one piece forging like the MP-32s but with almost the same forgiveness of the X-Tours without the big sole and thick top line. Titleist really did their homework on these and it is hard to believe that Endo is doing these since they feel as soft as any Titleist iron since the old 1997 Tour Blades that Hoffman did the entire work on (including the chrome unlike the 681s).

I have had mine for two weeks now, and they are one of the most solid irons I've ever hit. They look good, and they feel "Mizuno soft". I love Mizuno's but really think that Titleist has made a better iron with this one.

I'm drooling right now.  I checked them out last week, with the plastics still on them and they are incredible looking. I'm picking up a set of chrome, it's just a matter of time.  I'm playing mp32's right now, which i'll keep, because they are really nice, but want more forgiveness.

Did not put up against MP32, but they are no bigger-seem smaller-really like the top line-Steve

Drooling? I'm way beyond that point. Hi guys I'm new to the forum but I've read it a lot. I bought Titleist 690.CM irons about 4 months ago and love them but since I've seen these in the forum I could kick myself. The worst thing is that they cost the same as what I paid for my irons. They are beautiful!!!!

I'll try to hit them this weekend, but I'll probably stick with my 690.CMs because they feel like they could be my kids. Thanks for the comments on this club.

By the way I normally shoot between 80 and 88. I had a full Callaway bag but I'm converting to Titleist and added what I want to have by the end of next year in brackets. Since I've switched to "tougher" Titleist 690.CM from Callaway X16 Pro's I've improved my game. For right now my bag consists of:

Callaway Great Big Bertha II, 9 degree, Grafalloy Blue X (New Titleist 460)

Callaway Steelhead III, 15degree, Steel (New 904PT)

Callaway Steelhead III, 19degree, Steel (Titleist 503.H)

Titleist 690.CM 3-PW, True Temper S300 stiff

Callaway Forged +, 52 degree (Titleist spin milled 53/54 if available, otherwise a 52 again)

Callaway Forged +, 60 degree (Titleist spin milled 60)

Knight from Walmart, better than white hot #5 I had (Scotty Cameron Futura, I'll get it used. It may be big but I stroke it pure)

Remember ... NO 3-puts

I've only had my 735.CM (Carbon-Chrome) irons for two days, so this may be premature. Having played the original 690CB's for 2.5 years, my first impression is the 735 forging is harder than the 690. The 735's are very nice looking, but knowing me I'll probably try the 695CB's when the come out next spring. I'm leaving for Scotland today to properly break in the 735's. Can't wait for the 905R!

Hi,

I actually went to GolfGalaxy this weekend just to feel my future babies again: 904F, Spin Milled Wedges, Futura and 503.H. I also just can't wait. I've tried the 735.CMs and came to the conclusion that I definitely like my 690.CBs better. I was wrong about the price though. The 690.CMs are $100 more expensive than the 735s and more scarce set (which I like) to play.

I picked up a set a couple weeks ago and hit them side by side with the MP32s before buying them. They both felt good but the 735s were more forgiving and went straighter for me. I was alternating shots between the 32 and the SS 735 and I personally felt that the SS 735s felt better at impact. I've always heard that carbon forging was softer than a SS forging but in this case I felt that the SS was better.

I do like the shiny look of the chrome version but the retailer had a SS set with Rifle Project X 6.0s which I picked up on the spot! :clapping:

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been playing with my current set of SS 735.cm for almost 2 weeks after Titleist royally screwed up my order of chrome 735.cm's. Prior to that, I had played with my club pro's set of chrome 735 for couple of weeks with good success so I was looking forward to receiving my set of chrome 735 but Titleist f*cked up my set of chrome 735 that came to me with chrome cracks around the hosels. So I requested them to overnite me a set of standard set of chrome 735's but they messed up yet again by sending me a set of stainless steel 735's. So I played with this set of 735's in my bag for my first full round in Missouri Mid-Am after playing with XTours for 5 months, I hit 28 out of 36 greens which isn't that bad for my 1st 2 rounds with a brand new set, still finished 12th even with my very poor putting performance along with my off-tempo swing in 2nd round.

But I did notice that stainless steel short irons does not have great feedback as I noticed with chrome 735 short irons. It feels like I was clanking my short irons but yet when I look up, they still go straight to my target. Oh well, maybe I'll get used to it eventually someday.
