First off...THANK YOU FOR MAKING CTAPER SHAFTS!! :hi:

I love the color options on the steel shafts...we already went thru the 'shaft skins' phase, but let's not go there.

Will there be any other colors in the system shortly? and do you plan to offer 'satin' look in the white, black, etc in the CTapers in the near future...I have some wedges calling to join in the fun with the rest of the irons!

What can you say about the durability of the color on the shafts? :bb:

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us!!

Dscvrr_STL,

Thanks for the vote of support! Glad you like the options. There may be a few new color / finish options on the horizon but we can't unveil them yet. Sign up for KBS newsletter or FB to stay current! Though, we'll be posting info on WRX as well.

Further down the road, we may offer the new finishes on the C-Taper. We're not sure if we can get the 'brushed satin steel' look to shine through with the color yet. We're exploring that option for sure.
Durability from our player testing and industry standard durability tests is excellent. The CUSTOM SERIES passes independent durability tests used for leading graphite on the market.

Can you customize the grip to match the shaft?
Curtis, haha. You certainly can but you would need to do that on your own. We selected the White Pearl, Black Pearl, and Silver Pearl because they are a more neutral option and should match well with a lot of grip options.

Thanks,
EH

Hi BirdieBob,

Thanks for your question. Right now this is our list (see below). We also have 5 guys that we are aware of testing the product. Three of them in the top 30 WR. It was a tough launch out on tour last year because we ran out of tour stock for three months pretty much right after we launched the product. Talk about a mess!!! But even with that happening we were able to get great players like the ones listed below!

Steve Stricker

Justin Rose

Peter Hansen

Pat Perez

Chez Reavie

TAIII

Scott Gustweski

Hope this helps.

Any plans to do more than the three colors?
Curtis,

We have a lot of versatility. We'll see what is popular, what the feedback is and perhaps move from there into some new designs. We have a lot of creative room to work with. That said, Tour players, dealers, and our early polls showed these were the most preferred options.

Thanks,
EH

Thanks for your question. At this point we do not have any plans for a lite weight design in the C-Taper.

Does a wedge flex shaft play an important role in bunker shots, or are the shafts more tailored for turf interaction and full swings?
Featherhammer,

wedge specific shafts can play an important role in any shot via feel, spin and stability through the turf. KBS shafts have a unique construction that focus on streamlining energy transfer into the clubhead. This translates to better feel. The Center of Gravity also allows more mass in the clubhead at the same swing weight (stability through turf interaction). besides those two characteristics shafts will influence the amount of spin imparted on the ball as well. Coming out of the sand, more spin (ie KBS Hi-Rev shaft) will help generate more stopping power.

Thanks,
EH

Hello,

The KBS Custom Series is going to be offered with our dealers March 1[sup]st[/sup]. Out on tour Dustin Johnson has the white ones in his wedges, Sabo has them in a full set so does JJ Klein. We have had a good amount of people asking for them and I believe you will see more of these in tour players hands the next few weeks.

Hope this helps!

In the case of a scratch or chip do you offer touch up bottles of matched paint? Btw I'll take mine with the White Pearl. Thanks!
Mg7034,

The process is a multi-coat 3 step process. Even if you scratch or chip the first layer (a hard thing to do) the paint layer is very durable as well and will show through with nearly no visible difference from the surrounding area. You shouldn't get through to chrome unless that was a purposeful goal. Again, same durability as graphite shafts on the market.

Thanks,
EH

They will be offered March first. You can find them at KBS dealers. Please see our website on the dealers page. www.kbsshafts.com

I really want to try the C-tapers but they are really hard to find in my area. None of the Golf Galaxy's have them in their fitting carts like with Titleist, Ping, TaylorMade, etc. Are you guys planning on making them more accessible to those types of stores so we can demo them? I'm in Madison, WI...maybe I can swing by Stricker's house and see if he has any?

Forgive me if a similar question has already been asked, but are there any plans to build on and further improve on the KBS Tours? Not that they need to be, but you guys are always doing R&D, so I'm wondering if pro tour or consumer feedback has prompted you to consider any changes for the Tour line, without encroaching too far into C-Taper territory. I have a set of KBS Tours in S, hardstepped, and those seem to fit me better than the C-Tapers.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, and keep up the good work.

The Hi Rev was designed to generate more spin for the new groove rule change. One of the large OEM testing the Hi Rev verse other shafts offered out in the market and found that the KBS Tour Hi Rev spun close to 300 rpms more than anything else they tested at that time. The shaft has a longer tip length to help generate spin. However it also has higher weight R-115 S-125- X 135. This helps keep a stiff profile so that the shaft has tight dispersion and good weight in your hands yet still gets you more spin.

How would your shafts benefit a mid to high handicapper?
CTEagle,

Absolutly. Our goal is to design shafts that will perform at the highest levels required by the best players in the world. This high performance of the shaft will transfer over to all golfing abilities. Golfers with high handicaps have less consistent swings than professional golfers, but KBS performance will still help the higher handicaps play better.

CM

Is there anything new coming in the product pipeline, whether it be a new line of shafts, or a revamp of an existing line (kbs tour maybe)?
minhjn,

We are always trying new designs, and trying to improve performance. This is done with Kim Braly and our player testing. However, right now we are not unveiling anything new. Our product line is complete and very simple for players to fit into. Essentially every golfer can find a great fit in our product line.

Thanks,

CM

Just got my first set of KBS Tours in my AP2 712s...so excited to get to play (once spring comes in the Midwest)!!!

Quick question, Is any advantage of the KBS Tours taken away by "upping" the swingweight when irons are ordered from a manufacturer?

Thanks again, and keep making the best shafts on the market!!!
What makes KBS different and/or better than other shaft OEM's?
WVP,

The KBS TOUR Series is designed quite different from leading products by other manufacturers. Our shaft technology focuses on more of a butt stiff design where energy transfer is streamlined for feel and distance while the total shaft design remains comparably stiff for tighter dispersion. Basically, you achieve the benefits of a stiff shaft with the feel of a softer shaft.

In combination with that, we've developed the KBS TOUR Series around a logical concept we call: Integrated Weight and Flex. Through this system, every shaft in our product line has a number of flex options where there is a direct correlation between the shaft weight and flex stiffness. In this system, as the weight increases the shaft flex increases similarly. This ensures players with a slow swing speed have a lighterweight product (allowing for increased swing speed) while faster swing speeds have a heavier product (for more stability).

There are a few critical technologies within the shaft design that help the KBS TOUR Series achieve all this, but the important items are mentioned above. We've tested our product thoroughly against our competitors and found a number of performance enhancements which we've branded on. GolfWRX has a seen one particular branding we put together for the KBS C-TAPER shaft (5%'s).

There are in fact similar performance benefits to the KBS TOUR shaft and KBS TOUR 90 which we haven't yet shared. We'll have more information on those test results in the near future.

Thanks,
EH

Could you speak to the durability of the finish, for instance how would it compare to a powder coating?
Topr,

Durability is same as graphite shafts you find on the market. Color Designs has been working on this with KBS for nearly two years comprising a rich background in graphite shafts and other paint technologies. The key differences occur during the application phase and the other in the chemical composition of the polyurethane. Both are patent pending. That said, this is a 3 stage process with multiple steps at each. And, it is specific to steel shafts thus it will far exceed a standard powder coating.

The CUSTOM SERIES shafts passed durability tests conducted by several third parties and the finishing technology is being explored by a number of industry OEM's.

Thanks,
EH

Does the finish add any extra weight? Looks amazing BTW
jrazz16,

the CUSTOM SERIES finishing adds 1.5g of total weight. This will be equivalent to about 1 or 2 cpms with the KBS TOUR Series. We've sorted the shafts by weight so the final product you receive remains within a +/-1.5g tolerance ensuring you receive a finely tuned set in flex and frequency 3-PW.

Cheers,
EH
