My flat swing

I have always been a little flat on the backswing. I play well and can shoot in the sixties with a pretty straight ball flight no big misses and above average distance. I am always defending the flatness and it gets in my head even though I don't believe it has an effect on my ball striking. My arm swings more across my chest and stays on plane most of the time, the downswing is always right on plane and the shaft returns to the exact place it started. Any feedback or similar stories would be welcomed. Also my shoulder turn is quite level and not tilted as it would be in a more 2 plane move.

Have you read the book by Jim Hardy ?

 

Your single-plane swing is going to have fewer moving parts, less timing issues.

 

If it were me, i wouldnt worry about it, especially if your shooting in the sixties......

When I feel my swing is getting flat, I try to start the backswing with taking the club a little outside. I am not sure if this is recommended, but it does help me.

I do take it back to the outside so its funny you say that. I think the worst thing for my swing was starting to work in an indoor teaching facility where I can use video as much as I want. You can surely look too much, I used to be a feel player it got me really into mechanics. For me I think feel is better, but still cant stop looking at video. Thanks for the comments. If I want to post video should I go through U tube or the site.

I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but is seems that the golf swing is getting flatter. Look at Badds new swing, look at TW's new swing.
