Don't think I ever said Cantlay was better. I think he has accomplished more on the tour with higher competition and, to answer the OP question, is definitely the bigger prospect.

Which are the higher competition events compared with Matteo?

PGA...let me know when Matteo sets a course record. Also T54, CUT, T37 is not much to get excited about. I just see him to be a lot like Ishikawa.

Cantlay will be playing in the 2012 Open so I guess it can be settled then. Granted this is one of the easiest majors. Why? Because an old drunk guy was able to win last year.

Please point out a successful British Am champion of recent memory. I would say 1 (Jose).
I'd say Sergio has carved himself a decent legacy in the game

Michael Hoey is also making waves these days and is a real contender, week in, week out

We could talk about those legendary winners of the US Am, like Nat Crosby, who my friend had the pleasure of beating in the British Boy's Championship when playing off a 3 handicap

You are trolling, omitting things and also being rude, not even worth answering

It's just my opinion bro. Don't think I said anything rude. If he wins a major I will reconsider. Don't get your feelings hurt just because you know the guy.
The way you refer to Darren Clarke is insulting in so many ways that I can not begin to divulge which. People like you make these boards less of a pleasure to visit these days. You have your right to your opinion; if your opinion time and time again comes down to meaningless insults we have a right to regard them as such and ignore you.

Curious considering how many people call AK a drunk. The truth is the truth. Why is everyone so sensitive on here?
DC lost his wife. People ACCUSE AK of partying too much. Totally different. Im sure most who see their spouse suffer and pass will have a hard time coping.

And I am aware of that. I really meant nothing by the comment other than to point out what I perceive to be the easier tournament.

Easier than what?

Tiger: 4 Masters 3 Opens
Jack: 6 Masters 3 Opens
Phil: 3 Masters 0 Opens
Palmer: 4 Masters 2 Opens
Hale Irwin: 3 US Opens 0 Opens
Retief Goosen: 2 US Opens 0 Opens
ANDY NORTH: 2 US Opens 0 Opens

If its so easy then why can the 2 greatest players to ever play the game only muster 6 (out of their 32) between them? Why can Mickelson win 4 majors but not get an Open? Why did Palmer win only 2 Opens?

The easiest major to win (although it is probably the hardest to qualify for to counter that) would be The Masters, since its the smallest field and a quarter of the field is made up of past winners/amateurs who have no chance.

Your perceptions are biased and flawed to the extreme.

Edit: Anyway this is way off topic, you went from saying Manassero has achieved nothing to saying that European courses are too easy to saying that Luke Donald and Martin Kaymer are the most undeserving top players of all time to saying that Darren Clarke is an "old drunk man" to saying that the Open is easy to win. Everybody can see what you're up to, you need to be more subtle about it dude.

You are misunderstanding. I am saying they are easy in that they level the playing field. Which is how I perceive an old guy being able to win, which also explains why golfs greats have not won that many Opens.

You are right about the Masters and I never claimed otherwise. US Opens are the real test and PGAs are almost an unreal test. Judinging by that is why I like Tiger and Rory. Tiger winning by 15 at Pebble is quite frankly one of the most amazing things in all of sport.

Easy to do a lot of things when you will walk away with $0. Can Matteo beat Cantlay now that he is pro? He didn't at the US Open...
Nice to know you still only have 1 event as an argument.

Hopefully Cantlay can perform better at the Masters then what he did at his last pro event, when he missed the cut by 5 shots.

People remember how you play in the majors. Not some random event in Feb. Basically the same thing I am saying about Matteo.
Yup I agree, 18 years young and has made the weekend in all 4 majors.
An impressive feat, but last year's performances were not that impressive.
