Srixon Trispeed Tour for $15 a dozen

I was out shopping yesterday, drooling over the golf stuff. Not quite warm enough in Michigan yet, but I can dream. I was at Dick Sports and saw that the Trispeed and Trispeed Tour were on sale for 2 for $35. This already seemed like a really good deal to me and then I realized that the entertainment book had a $20 off $100 coupon. So I picked up 6 dozen and walked out the door for $15 each after tax.

 

Just letting everyone know of the great deal (even at just 2 for $35) and also to ask peoples opinoin of the ball. Have you used it? What did you think? What would you compare it to?

I played Penta's all last year. I am a single digit hcp, but have a pretty average swing speed (about 99 with a driver). So it felt like, and I was told by a fitter, that I am probably losing distance with a 4 or 5 piece ball and that I should drop to a 3 piece.

I've got a couple dozen of the Trispeed Tours in yellow and I think they're a good mid grade ball. Good distance and decent spin, but better designed for a bit of a bump and run game, instead of trying to fly the ball to the pin and spin.

I Normally play a urethane ball like the b330 series, and I definitely lost a couple shots during my first round with the 2 for $35 trispeed tours yesterday. In particular a couple greenside shots I will normally cozy up to tap in distance rolled out a few feet longer. Both shots were flops to tight pins that normally drop and stop for me.

I posted this a while ago but after talking to a Srixon rep and raving about the XV ball, he tossed me a Trispeed Tour ball - give this a go, it's as long or longer than the XV.

For about 1/2 the price of the XV, the TT is an XV in disguise. Great wind ball, long off the driver and irons. It will drop and stop but don't expect ubber spin and will release more than the XV for chips/pitches. Off the putter, the XV is softer but the TT is pretty good. So I have no complaints and I play both TT and XV - whatever I grab from my bag. Great buy, stock up cause Srixon is killing this ball.

Funny but I got a 2 ball sleeve at a Demo day after trying Cleveland(?) clubs last Summer.

Didn't try them for quite some time but about 4 weeks ago I drowned my V1x so I took out the Trispeed Tour ball. Played the last 6 holes with it. Not bad, not bad at all. Very good distance off the driver and was able to hit that "1 hop and stop" chip shot on a hole or 2 so it has some nice bite to it.

Haven't bought them though as I believe they're being discontinued. No reason to buy a ball that I can't find in 6 months (and no, I'm not running out and buying a gross of them either ).

How do these compare to the $10/eBay Top Flite Gamer?

I liked them better than both versions of the Gamer (both v1 and v2).

However, not as spinny or with satisfying enough feel to knock my e5s out of the bag.

imo, it's better than gamer v2 overall.
however, gamer v2 is longer for sure.

At 17.50/doz at Dicks vs 10.00/doz on ebay for the Gamer V2, The Gamer V2 will be the better ball for buck.

Saying that, I do have 6 Dozen Tri Speed Tour - tour yellow and 3 dozen Tri Speed sitting in the garage. Got the for around 17.50 a while ago when Golf Warhorse had a buy two get one free promo with an additional discount at various spending level. I think it was spend 200.00 get 40.00 off.

Compared it on the green with the bridgestone e6 ball and the b330rxs...

on the green and little chips about the green the TT felt noticeably firmer than both balls. More release than the RXS and the e6 on little chips.

I found I putted it better than I chipped it, but honestly, i really came away thinking I could use the srixon TT just as well I expect. It was crisper off the putter face, rolled nicely. I like that its marking are limited. easy to line up. (ah, the details!)

I got it mostly as a wind ball and cold weather ball. I'll let you know..

Get'em while you can, I believe Srixon will stop making 'em. Just picked up 3 dozen with 3 giveaway towels for $57 shipped, those towels were the deal maker, looked plush as hell on the photos.

I stocked up on the yellow. Good distance ball, longer than the Q-star for me. Very durable. Low enough spin off the driver to work well in windy conditions. Good rollout on tee shots. Rolls nicely off the putter. I would say less bite on the green than say the Topflite Gamer. Overall fits my game well.
