MacGregor MT vs Snake Eyes Tour

both are $30 for 3 dozen

Golfsmith currently has both the MacGregor MT golf ball and the Snake Eyes Tour golf balls for $30 for 3 dozen. Both of these are 3 piece balls. Just curious if anybody has any experience with either of these and what their thoughts were on them. For me the Srixon TST spins the most into the greens compared to other balls in the same category, 3 pc ionomer/suryln cover. If you want more spin into the green then the TST you'll need to go to a urethane cover ball, IMO. If you are comparing the to the non tour Tri Speed then there would be other balls that would give you a little more spin into the greens, but not significant.

I have played the Mac. MT tour and it's a decent ball, it will feel firmer than both the Tri Speed offerings and for me it had a flatter flight overall and was better into the wind for me, distance was good w/ the Mac MT, but I hit both the Tri speed offerings farther, especially on calm days. It checks up OK into the greens but not as good as the TST. I was at golfsmith on Sat. and my hunch was that the Mac. MT and the Snake Eyes Tour were the same ball and pulled them both out and they have the exact same cover. If you have a Sports Authority near by, they sell a Tommy Armour ball, I think it's called the Tour Spin, it also has the same cover/dimples, so it's likely an open model. Not necessarily a bad thing and if you are on a budget, these are worth a try.
