I just got mine in the mail the other day and I know they are fake from reading these threads after I received them. My question is, is there that big of a difference to warrant opening a claim? I had Sharpros on my old clubs that I had and I know the debate rages on about whether there is a difference or not, but Im hesitant to put them on my clubs. If they play like the sharpros then I will be ok with it. Any thoughts?

I got some fakes off ebay from a powerseller with like 100% feedback, so easy to tell. The ones I got were thin and were slick kinda waxy feeling, nothing like my real ones! I was so mad, and what these guys do is if you contact them they issue you a refund so if you dispute it or leave them poor feedback they can say you are full of it because you kept the refund money. I think most are fake-I've been burned on fakes and fake clubs the last 5 times on ebay from good sellers, I will not purchase from there anymore!

This is probably the most informative post I have ever read or seen on fake NDMC's, or any grips for that matter. Thank you for taking the time to go through the details with pictures. I'm guessing this post will be read by a massive number of members as they are looking to get NDMC grips for a good bargain.

Also found out the one on my 23* hybrid is fake...

Definitely EBay fakes -at least the ones pictured.

Just the wrappers are a giveaway.
The grip feel markers are so bad. Compare them to real GP grips;

I bought 26 decades a few weeks back off ebay and once received, had the destinct feeling they were fake from first appearance. Then received email from eBay stating they had removed the grip auction because seller was selling items that violate copyright laws. Went to GG to compare and they were definitely fake. The fakes smelled like paint thinner where the real smelled like rubber, the butt caps on the fakes were shiny and real were dull, then the rest of the grip just didn't look right. Opened case and sent the grips back, got a full refund as soon as package was attempted to be delivered. Then got the box back in the mail a few days later as the address was phony........

Guess will wait for contact from seller if they want them back......not gonna pay to ship them back again......seller even sent me extra money for shipping them back in the first place.........very odd deal.

I stumbled across this thread and decided to check a set of grips I bought last year off eBay. Sure 'nuff, they're counterfeit. One other thing I noticed is that the grips are very inconsistent in texture. Some were smoother than others, and when, I blew them on, some stretched down the shaft farther than others. I had never blown on grips before, so I assumed that the differences between grips was inconsistent technique on my part.
Funny thing is, I still love the grips. I won't knowingly buy counterfeit grips again, but I doubt that the real grips are that much better to justify the difference in price.

I had put mine on my clubs and tried playing with them and they kept slipping all over in my hands and the rubber was flaking. Just opened a case tonight with ebay complaining and have already received a full refund.

Now I will be extra careful and will likely buy my grips from my local shop and just bite the bullet cost wise.

Myabe if NDMC were not so ridciulously overpriced the counterfit market wouldnt be so big. I am the type of person that prefers to buy brand new from the store( i do buy off the BST as well) but these grips cost so much to regrip your clubs after labor your looking at almost $200. No wonder why people see "good" deals on ebay and buy them there.

Every golfer works on his/her game. the issue is that most amateurs have no idea what the basics are. The grip is a significant part of a good golf swing as this is the only contact point you have with the club. How can any golfer feel confident when they know their grips are fake or have doubts on their authenticity. That doubt is always in the back of your mind.

Golf is a game of feel and consistency. But most important, people don't like being lied to especially when they are paying for goods and services.

It's like you guys are gaining strokes from these fakes or something. You get what you pay for. It's a grip. Work on your game instead of writing an essay.

Each model grip definitely will have a unique upc code, and they are made either in Taiwan or Thailand.

i bought some fakes, knowingly, for cheap and although they feel a lil different than the real ones on the lower rubber portion, i am completely happy with their performance after three range sessions and three rounds of golf. i haven't noticed any significant wear to the cord portion or tackiness.

the OP has pointed out many inconsistencies. the first thing you will notice is the smell of WD40 that is a dead giveaway they are fakes and the brightness of the colors. the real GPs have a faint smell and a muted color.

the fakes are definitely worth half the price to me, though.

People either don't know the cost of counterfeiting to business or don't care. Where I come from people who buy counterfeits are just as much crooks as those who manufacture them. Can you say s-c-u-m-b-a-g?

I understand your guys' points but there's no need for name-calling. I have never sold counterfeit goods. FYI, my grips are holding up just fine FWIW.

You support the crooks. As far as I'm concerned that makes you a crook. If you don't like being called names then act honorably.

Great and informative topic. Lots of good replies except the few by this one clown (make silly comments....get tagged....live & learn 'thevaporz' - don't whine).

I would have loved to put these on my clubs.....but they ARE too pricy. I picked up legit Black Widows blems on clearance instead. Counterfeit products hurt everyone.....and should be avoided - not supported.

wish i had spotted this a few months ago, i also came across a set of fakes. Same scenario, i bought them and actually had 2 rip in half where white met the black while installing them. I was out 75 bucks. . . just not worth it to try and save a few bucks.

Here is some hope for all who.bought fake grips... I bought 13 yellow/black grips, new decade multi compound by golf pride. I triple checked with seller that they were authentic, and did the sale thru PayPal... They came, and I had them installed, found this thread a week later...... Yep, my grips are fake.

I contact the seller who denies it but offers partial refund if I ship her the last 5 grips, I say no way, I cannot ship fraudulant goods. I contact PayPal and start a claim. They require a professional to confirm my grips aare fake and fax them a written and signed copy. I did this, and got full refund, and didn't have to send the grips.
