Opinions?
Hello all, I am once again going back and forth with my decision on new irons. I have found a local club maker who has been talking up KZG evolution irons and now i'm really interested in them, but i need opinions from you guys. They are sweet looking and he will fit me and match the shafts( i don't know if it's called frequency matching or not). The cost will be about $75 a club. I watched him reshaft a broken club and it was a great thing to watch. I have a website if anyone wants to check his equipment out for me. I'm taking more time finding the right irons than i did my damn car! Sorry for the looong post. Thanks for any help.

I've had a set for the past 8 months. My only reaction to these irons is ambivalence. They weren't bad, but neither were they great for me. I've recently switched to the Mizuno MP-60/32 combo set. I like the Mizunos much better because of the softness, and they seem to me to be more forgiving. For my KZG irons, the fitter fitted me at 1/2" long and 3 degrees upright. I never felt really comfortable with them. Your experience may be completely different. With a quality fitting, I think the evolutions would be great. I just don't think I was fitted properly.

I think you can do better than the KZGs. I got a set just after they were introduced. Feel is crisp, but they offered no significant forgiveness. I would recommend Mizuno MP60s or Bridgestone J33 Combos. Both are far better than the KZGs, and will retain some resale value. The KZGs will be worth next-to-nothing if you decide to sell them. Good luck.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I LOVE my Evolutions... best feeling blade I've hit. The fitting process has got to be spot on though obviously. My father (who's been doing it for many, many years) fitted me and I actually built my set myself with Dynamic Gold shafts.

Anyway, a good fitter should get you right in the first place, but should always be able to do some tweaking for you if you feel something else is needed.

($75 a club seems like a pretty good price on the Evolution irons btw)

No, not from Canada... just a hockey player/fan and HUGE Toronto Maple Leaf fan!

I travel to Toronto a few times a year though - love that town!

I played the Evo's for a long time and loved them! I had mine shafted with Project X's, it was a match made in heaven. Very soft and very forgiving. I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on them, they are great irons.

Completey agree. Pretty soft forging (although not the softest) Endo forged. I have them with Nippons and fitted. The most important aspect of any golf iron set is proper fit. I see golfers all the time who are not properly fitted for length, lie and shaft flex and blame the irons.
