I need a more durable ball.

In the past i mainly played Pro V1(x)s, i also tried the new Penta TP5s. While i dont have an issue with the performance they deliver, for some strange reason since recently they seem to get cut up really bad really fast. After a shot i can basically peel off little pieces of the outer layer.... When it comes to the end of the round, this also seems to affect distance.

I´m not really happy with the idea of having to use 2 balls a round (or more) so i´m looking for a ball with a lot more durable cover. Any ideas? Thanks!

Srixon Z Star, super durable

Z Star, you can play an entire round with one ball and it would be hard to tell it apart from a new one.

Does it matter if i take white or yellow? I played some yellows in the past, and they seemed to have a bit of an additional cover/finish of some kind or was that just my imgaination running wild?

Another vote for the Srixon XV...their version of the V1x. Very durable.

I've only ever played the white ones, but from all reports the yellow is at least as durable. I agree with you about the additional cover, nothing technical but it just has that look about it!

Srixon bar far has the best durability on the market. Considering the OP's current choices, the ZStar XV is probably a good place to start.

This is because ball manufacturers changed the ball to spin with CC wedges. So if you have non/conforming wedges, you'll murder the new balls.

Suggest you shift to conforming grooves. That's what I had to do.

My vote is for the XV. I REALLY want to try this ball more - I found one a few weeks ago and played it for the first time last week - bombed a drive with it and made my first eagle, and then hit a beautiful drive into the wind on the next hole. I'm definitely doing a side-by-side soon.

Z-Star. Tour yellow also hides scuffing better. Makes you "feel" like it lasts longer.

Thats the main reason I made the switch from Titleist to Srixon. I dont get anymore one wedge shot cutting anymore! After a day yes the ball is a little beat from wedges but still playable. Titleist after 3-4 wedge shots? Cut, scuffed, nasty, almost unplayable.

Srixon Z-Star is by far the most durable ball that I have used. The yellow hides the minor marks better than the white and performance is equal. These are great balls and the durability is an added bonus. These balls are down right amazing!

It looks like I may be going out on a limb here, but I am now a huge fan of the NXT Tour Yellow, some say yellow is for cowards (Trevino) but they are so easy to see off the tee, no distance sacrifice, and hold up really well to wedges. I was a fan of the NXT Tour in white before too. Don't get me wrong I love PRO V1Xs also but the cover seems to just get eaten by the end of a round. Another small thing, there is never the question "are you sure that is your ball?"

I have to agree with petersen, I've been gaming the nxt yellow off and on this season and the cover does hold up really well on those short par 3 wedge shots. Plus the confidence gained being able to see the ball all the way through flight is a major plus.

The NXT Tour S holds up well... I'm about to ditch the Penta TP balls - one solid wedge and they shred.
