Best Range Balls

Hi there,

 

I was wondering of the quality of range ball used in the US, we are opening a range here in New Zealand and after some opinons on ball brand. The ball of choice here seems to be BigYard Pro Range. Looking to buy large wholesale quantity.

our club currently uses the yellow nike range balls. they seem to be the same as any other range rocks i've hit.

A ton of ranges use Top Flight or Pinnacle practice balls and honestly they are terrible. I mean I guess when the balls are newer they are tolerable, but, after a season or so they are simply awful.

At some of the higher end private clubs here in Columbus I have seen the Titleist NXT practice balls. Those are much better. I guess it just depends on the course's budget.

My old club had some Taylormade practice balls that seemed pretty good and lasted as well. ( I miss that range)
Most places around here have crappy balls. Seems like I'm lucky to find a place with grass to hit off as well. If they have grass, they have crappy, worn out balls.
One place I go regularly has a mix of old and new. Found a couple of Maxfli HT in my bucket last week., Always some late 90's model balls showing up.
Owner just bought some Wilson Staff range ball, but they are about the same as top flight and pinnicle.

My club has some Nikes, and Taylormades, the TM's I select to hit more if I can, because they are alot softer, but after a few months they don't look as good as the Nikes do after years..

At TPC sawgrass other year, they had use using brand new NXT tours! :-)

Srixon XVs and z stars at my place during prime seasons and short game full year which is nice!

Most of the courses in the US use lower quality balls....I think?

Heck, maybe they pay extra for those gouges and slivers shaved off them from getting run over by the mower. Can Nike do that at the factory? I'm not even sure those Pinnacles are golf balls, maybe they're painted rocks or leftover steel ball bearings from the local nuclear plant. Its pretty sweet to hit a low hooking worm-burner with your driver that sails into the guy driving the cart that picks up the balls.....those kinds of shots can only be replicated using an old Top-Flight range ball that looks like its been living in a mud-puddle for most of its life, the rest being used as a chew toy at the local Humane Society.


Anyways, on the other hand....some courses use nice new Srixons, B-Stones and Titleist balls.

The range I've been using just replaced ALL of their balls with brand new Nikes. You should be fine with anything but the Srixon balls with the big black stripe around them. Those are the worst range balls ever.

No, the worst range balls ever are those floating balls. It's fun hitting them out across the lake, but then you realize your best drives are going about 180 yards. And 1 in 3 balls is cracked and goes about 40 yards.

Of course its cool to go to a facility that has nxt's or prov1's on the range but they replace their range balls A LOT! Honestly for a true range ball I would rather have pinnacle or top flite or nike or callaway rocks than anything else, sure they don't feel that great but after a couple of years when they are worn they still fly properly, I hate going to a range with the softer range balls that are all worn out and do funny stuff in the air. And I agree with nova, the floaters are the worst of all.
