Craft beer Drinkers Unite!

I had the Stone Arogant bastxxx last night (bomber) for the first time - easy drinking brown ale. I was impressed and easily could have had another.

Recently i went on a Three Floyds tear - Alpha King, Gumballhead and Dreadnaught - all definitley worthy of drinking again

Anybody have any experience with Fantôme Saison? I picked up a bomber last time and am looking forward to throwing this down soon.

Was able to find some Ale Smith IPA and man is that stuff good ! But I got something even better i think,....Firestone Walker has a new beer called Wookey Jack, its a unfiltered black rye ipa. Holy cow is it ever good. I love to smell my beer before every sip, and this one has an awesome aroma. If you guys can find it give it a try.

Bell's makes some good stuff. Their Kalamazoo Stout is decent. Two Hearted Ale is one of my favorite beers, and that means a lot considering I prefer pilsners, wheats and saisons. Oberon is a great light sweet summer wheat beer. I also like everything I've had from Ommegang Brewery, a specialist in Belgian-style beers out of Cooperstown, NY.

I gave up on Oberon unless it's on tap. The yeast cakes in those damn bottles makes more floaties than I'm comfortable trying to drink. Wigs me out..

Bells Hopslam is their best beer, IMO. Great stuff.

If you like a Pils, and want to try something "different"... Go look for some Uinta Brewery's Crooked Line Tilted Smile. It's an imperial pilsners.. Clocks in around 9 or 10 ABV I think, and has some decent balance to it. 750ml corked and caged bottle. Decent stuff!

Most of Uinta's stuff, especially the Crooked line, is VERY good. Unfortunately we don't get it anywhere near here so I have to trade for it (or pick it up when I'm on the road in NC). Great stuff regardless.

Also, anyone looking for a good IPA right now needs to give Schlafly American IPA a go (assuming you can get it). I'm not the biggest Schlafly fan, but this is one HELL of an IPA and compares to some of the best i've ever had (and I've had a lot). It's also bottle-dated, so you know how fresh it is, something that is very important to hoppy beers. Get it while you can though, as it's a seasonal and they will only make it through June or July.

Bell's Hopslam is PERFECT

When they released them here in Chicago I stumbled across them on a pallet at a Binnys (think liquor superstore). What intrigued me was the sign that said - 2 six pack limit. So I grabbed them. I had one beer 2 days later and I was hooked. I called back and their sold out - I call everywhere and sold out. I finally stumbled across a place with a case left - but they were limiting them to 1 six pack per customer. So I convinced my wife to drive to grab a sixer and then i went after work to grab one myself.

All of it was worth it - hopefully they make this seasonal part of their lineup.

I just had Dogfish Head Noble Rot. It is really outside of my wheelhouse. I am normally a hoppy beer or stout drinker. Although I think it was a little over priced it was pretty good. Very carbonated and light tasting for 9% abv with a sour taste on the back end. It is made with grape must from grapes used to make viognier wine and then aged in the wine barrels. Another odd beer from Dogfish Head that I would recommend.

It's 10% ABV, which is really surprising. Doesn't really let the booze come through. I was given a bottle by a co-worker. He LOVES that stuff, and I think he's drank an entire case of it in the last 2 months.

I like it, it's a bit too light and sour for my tastes, but I think it's a win on the whole "odd beer scale" from DFH.

I happened to come across a new beer collaboration between Greenflash and Founders called linchpin. I thought it was good but not great. Anyone else try this beer yet,...what did you think ?
Haven't had that. Greenflash doesn't distro. here, but Founders does.

White IPA right? I remember the press release said something about belgium yeast. Not my cup of tea, but worth trying.

I like a lot of different varieties, but I have some favorites.

IPA: Founders Centennial or Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Stout: Victory Storm King and Founders Imperial Stout
Amber: Troegs Hop Back
Misc: Founders Red's RyePA and Tommy Knocker Black IPA
Good list there! Haven't had any of the Rye's or the Black IPA you mentioned though.

Thank you, I had some friends do a very good job of "teaching me the ropes" of craft beer.

I really like Red's RyePA by Founders. It has more hops than the IPA, but isn't over powering. The Tommy Knocker Black IPA is good, but a great alternative is 21st Amendment Back in Black.

Red's RyePA is a very good beer. Since I am in Michigan some of the big grocery stores carry it and you can get it pretty cheap when it goes on sale. (not that its an expensive beer to start with)

Anyone get a chance to try the Firestone Walker, Wookey Jack, black rye IPA yet ?

Just picked some up today, I'll let you know my thoughts. Also got the green flash barley wine and double stout, about to crack one of those open. Palate wrecker still isn't out in bottles here :(

So the wookey jack was pretty damn tasty, it has a really earthy smell to it, kinda like some stuff you have to have a medical card to obtain haha but I was surprised by the taste.

The barley wine was tough to drink, a pint of it is ok but the flavor starts to be a bit much after that.

I was in NC and cashed in on some goods while in Asheville..

I picked up a limited bottle of Greenman Dweller.... pricey bottle, don't know when I want to crack it.

Nantahala Brewery's Noonday IPA is killer when the heat is cranked up though. I killed two growlers that weekend alone.

Anyone here homebrew? I've got a 8.4% Imperial IPA that half is bottle conditioning right now, and the other half is being dryhopped to death with some whole cone Citra. I've got the other fermenter full of a batch of a Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale clone, it's got a few more days on it before I'm going to lightly dry hop it with some Centinnial and Cascade.

Next up will probably be a nice light summer wheat with maybe some orange in it, and then I'm going to fire up a Founders Breakfast stout and then age it on some medium roasted american oak that has been soaked in Woodford Reserve Bourbon. That one will be aged and done by the holidays.
