What is the longest ball? Don't care about spin, feel, etc...

I am pretty sure that the Pinnacle Gold Distance and the HX Hot are the two longest balls for most everybody when all other variables are equal.

I came across an article a couple years ago on the web where a guy put all balls to a real life test (google it search around, best I remember, it was a green background site with an "older" look to it)... anyway, he tested everything and the Pinnacle Gold actually tested right up there in the "Overall Category" ... but for distance, it was out in front by a boat load.

the longest drives ive drove with are the older version of the Bridgestone e6. somehow i was hitting close to 350 yds a few time and this is with as much honesty as possible because im a really strong guy with my driver. But i'll also tell you to stay away from the ProV1's because they dont go anywhere.

This is my personal preference

Anybody else playing the velocity?? What do you think of them?

I'm interested in opinions as well, especially on approaches and greenside shots. I'm assuming it's a great distance ball.

Played them last Friday after reading about them here.

Long? Yep, don't have yardage, but it was noticeably longer.

When I say "longer", for reference, I usually play Srixon Z stars or ProV1's.

Around the green, soft feel but very little spin and balls rolled out much more than I prefer.

The worst thing about the ball, putting. Absolutely sucks. Feel is good, soft ball, etc... but it literally jumps off the putter face. I am a very good putter and I rolled balls past holes 4-8 feet. It was embarrassing. An experiment as stated earlier in this thread, I was using a GEEK DCT (long distance) driver I had just picked up for $40. It had a regular shaft, a whipping stick in my hands. Didn't hit but one fairway, archer and arrow were off on this given day.

Playing a tough Pinehust area course (Little River), with greens that were lightening quick, this ball was tested out. I used the DCT driver on the front nine along with the Velocity and shot 57. I used my Callaway FT-iZ driver and Srixon Q star on the back and shot 41. Many variables of course. Driver killed me with penalty shots. Ball killed me with 3-4 putts on several holes, an absolute rarity for me. Still, 57 on front and 41 on back? Seems almost impossible. I put a stiff shaft in the driver the same afternoon, killed it today. I mean killed it. But the velocity ball I fear. I am going to forget about it like a bad childhood memory.

But to answer the real question, yes, this is a very long ball. But I would only suggest it to folks that leave their putts short.

This year's offerings? Look at the Callaway Hex Black Tour or Chrome. Those balls are insanely long. My playing partner put the Black into play and he's murdering that thing. I just put the Chrome into play (review posted in the golfball section under "Throwdown") and it was the longest ball I used in my test.

Yeah I was shocked too. :D

I agree, today I played 18, front 9 with a Bridgestone 330, back 9 with a Callaway Hex Black Tour. I thought the Hex Black was very long, it seemed much longer than the 330 and REALLY seemed to play well in the wind, especially off the tee, I hit some real bombs with it. BUT, I liked the 330 better overall, chipped and putted better with it. Like all things in golf the difference was probably mostly between my ears!

Agreed. Played this ball today and hit some absolute BOMBS. Will need to hit some more, only got one sleeve and lost the other two in recent weeks. But the one Black Hex I played today was a beast. And around the greens, holy kit, this ball has some serious spin. I don't usually see much spin, but my lob wedge had the ball dancing and squirming today. Loved the feel on the putter too, a huge consideration when picking a ball.

On a lark I bought a box of Top Flight XL 7000 Super Long balls. I tried them out today. They are super long and not hard as a rock either. I have been using Titleist Tour Distance balls but these may replace them. I used to live near a course and did not buy any for years. I used to seperate the Top Flights and got rid of them fast. Now these deserve a more serious look.

3 rounds now and LOVE them...hitting drives further then i ever have and have no issues stopping the ball.

I like the distance and putting is no problem, but pitches just seem to run out too much. Chipping isn't bad I get enough spin. I'll be practicing with them some more today to get a better handle on it. Other than that I love the ball.

move to california or texas, get the great roll. other wise ask what ball flies the longest. and hope to get the ten yard roll.
