Srixon tour only zstar PGATSS

Was at PGA tour superstore today and they had a display up front with tour only Srixon Z star balls. Both the outside box and sleeves were plain white cardboard. Anyone know what the difference is between these and retail? They were 44.99

I saw these today too - they were listed as "Straight from the tour van" and were labeled as prototypes for tour use only. The sign describing them said:
Diamond (w/Dash) - Longest Tour Ball
Non Dash - Lower flight Z-Star

As the OP said, outer boxes were plain white with no print at all.

Great find here.
The Z Star diamond ball is the current Z Star XV. The tour guys liked the performance of the Z Star X but didnt want like the extra wedge spin, so the creation and release of the XV was born.

I bought the lower flight version. (Non Dash). I noticed the dimple design was a little different than the Z-stars I play. One major difference in the dimple design was the alignment line around the ball. I think it has been done in the past and is used for putting. See picture.

True, I guess I was thinking guys mark their alignment line along the seam for putting.

The store in Denver has them marked down to [b]$19.97/dozen[/b] (thanks joshn08 for the heads up). I picked up five boxes.

Not sure which one I got. Any ideas?

That's not fair! What models do they have? I would buy two of the Z-Star Diamind (XV) for that.

I'd say that a company had a $hit ton of balls they didn't know what to do with...put a marketing spin on them and now will make a nice profit.

I stopped by PGATSS today to check out the Srixon deal. $19.97/dozen is an amazing deal! I talked with one of the employees working in the ball section and he said these "tour" balls are 2013 test balls. I'll have to pick up a few dozen at this price.

Upon further inspection, it appears to got three dozen Z-Star XVs and two dozen Z-Star. It's going to be chilly this weekend, so the regular Z-Stars will be in my bag.
