My golf ball search......

So far this season I've tried Bridgestone B330 & B330's, Callaway Hex Black, Titleist Pro V1x and Nike 20xi-x. This will be a short review of likes and dislikes of each.

 

Bridgestones: I started out really liking the B300 (before trying the Hex Black), seemed pretty long with not a ton of spin off the driver and liked the feel. I like the 330 better than the 330s, to much spin off the tee with the "s" model and not enough difference around the green to make me want to play them over the 330.

 

Titleist: Even though I have a dozen Pro V1x's I've only played them 1 time this year. It played a lot like the B330 to me, distance is comparable and feel around the greens about the same. I didn't notice excessive spin off the driver. Overall I liked it but wasn't blown away by it.

 

Nike 20xi-x: I really wanted to like this ball, but all I can say is I don't hate it. Very loud off the tee! Almost feels heavy when you hit it. Distance was good, I'd say a little longer than the Bridgestones or ProV1x, but the feel just doesn't compare. Spin wise, surprisingly for such a hard feeling ball it spins very well, I think more than all the other balls I've tried this year. If you like a firm feeling ball, or you want everyone on the course to know when you are teeing off, you should give them a try!

 

Callaway: I'd say by far my favorite ball right now. Seems longer than the others, does better in the wind and has nice feel around the greens. May not be quit as soft as the B330 or ProV1x, but not nearly as "clicky" as the Nike. I just love how they bore through the wind, never seem to balloon. So for now this will be my "go to" ball, I'll keep trying the others but the Hex Black is certainly the front runner right now.

Nike 20xi-s is unbelievable for me, long off the tee, lots of spin off the irons, great spin on the finesse pitch and chips, lots of grab, have to play aggressively with these or you will come up short

I really like the B330sx balls. The Callaway Hex chromes are my next favorite and are less expensive. The E6 is really long, but doesn't stop on the fast greens here in southern Cal. Nothing does to be honest. At least on the golf course I play on. The greens are very hard here (Santa Barbara).

Had been playing the 20XI-X since last yr, but finally the lack of feel around the greens just got to be too much for me. A few rounds ago I made the switch to the ProV1 & that's where I'm gonna stay for awhile! I've already seen a tremendous improvement in my short game (and as a result my scoring) & the loss of distance has been minimal if any at all to be honest. Obviously there's some more spin off the driver, but it hasn't been a bad thing b/c it's very predictable. My draws just draw more & my cuts cut a little more. I know a lot of people can't stand the durability of the ProV1, but I honestly haven't had an issue with it yet.
