What a nice ball. Played yesterday in the sauna (temp was 108* at tee time) with the Yellow version. I cannot imagine playing anything other than this if you don't want to play a tour ball. Gamer distance, but a lot more spin on the 20-70 yard shots. Straight off the driver, high and long with irons, more spin than I could have ever expected around the green for $25. All in all, a nice ball.

(I know this is a little general, but I'm only a 1.8 hcap, and I hate reading reviews about balls. If you don't want to spend $45, these are the best available right now, IMO.)

Good to hear. I bought some today and can't wait to see how they compare to the Z-stars and Titleist NXT Tour S.

I've used the Q-star my last two rounds. The white one I used on Wednesday looked pretty much pristine after about 13-14 holes (which for me is about 200 strokes nowadays, seems like). Today was a yellow one and after several assorted carts paths, trees and other insults it did have one noticeable scuffed side by the time it found the water on #12. The replacement looks AOK after finishing the round.

So I conclude it is more durable than the DT Solo, the older model NXT Tour and the HX Diablo Tour which are the three balls I've used regularly over the past couple years. And on our dormant Bermuda rough the yellow is easy to spot from a distance, even nestled down a bit.

Today was breezy (about 10-12mph with some gusts of around 20) and I'd say it handled the wind pretty well. The HX Diablo Tour is a decent wind ball, the DT Solo less so. I thought the old NXT Tour was a bit too subject to variation in its flight on windy days. The Q-star seems to have a slightly higher than average flight overall but does not particularly upshoot into the wind. The one thing it seemed pretty good at was not being knocked down by a gusty tailwind. Seems some balls (given my low-speed, low-spin swing) will sort of do a knuckle-ball kind of thing at the peak of their trajectory with a tailwind but no tendency for that with the Q-star that I could see. It really did carry a bit extra with the breeze behind and of course carry much shorter directly into the wind.

So I'm not terribly impressed with more distance or huge spin or anything. But it seems very solid in performance and durability and I pay $27 a dozen at the club's pro shop, which is comfortable for my budget.

Well, I caved in and traded a friend a sleeve of Callaway Tour IZ for a sleeve of the yellow Q Star and I must say WOW.partytime2.gif Now mind you it was 43 degrees here in PA. I normally play the Penta and was surprised how the feel of the Q Star was comparable to the Penta around the greens and short shots. The ball stopped on a dime and some even backed up a little. This surprised me! As for the distance aspect, I did not see any difference between the two, but then again it was 43 degrees out. Great ball for the price and I will be picking up some yellow ones, even if its for a conversational piece at my club!

i don't mind a little loss, but a lot, would be a no go. the accuracy is by far the most important to me. the lack of sidespin intrigues me too by a 2 piece. i normally get, and dont plan on a lack of roll-out on chips and check-ups, so a little less spin on approaches sounds good to me.

"i normally get, and dont plan on a lack of roll-out on chips and check-ups,"

Huh? Are you saying you get roll out normally or you dont?
