Bridgestone b330s

played a b330s (last years model) that I found on the course and loved it. I usually play prov1 but am thinking about giving these bridgestones a test. I dont want to through 45 bucks at a dozen without some feedback. (I want to try the new ones with the dual dimple) I have a high swing speed but control the prov better than the x. Also I love the feel of the pro v over the X. I seemed to control the b330s off the tee a little better.

Anyone got any insight on these balls

I have played the 1X and the Penta (old and new). I also played the RX-S last season because I thought my 101-102 SS was in the range for that ball. I read on here about 2 months ago that the B330s was a great ball and that some folks that had been playing the RX-S switched to it and actually had BETTER results. I love the ball. Low spin off of the driver and great check around the greens.

The 2011 330s is a nice ball.

Not much sidespin on drives, tons of check, and they stop soft is you can play a lob shot.

played them for the first time this past weekend. I liked them a lot. I don't think I like them as much as the Pro-V1x but for me the difference was minimal. I picked them up for like $30 a dozen which is a lot better than paying $48 or whatever for Pro V's.

I will give the note that it was 48* and 65* respectively when I played. The balls felt significantly better on the second day. Like the ProvX they didnt seem to react to well in the cold. I can't wait to play these when its warmer here (mid 80's). I also can't wait for the greens to be better. With the shaggy greens, the cold weather, and the top dressing on the greens it was hard for anything to zip back. That being said these still were one hop stopping. Can't wait to get them in midseason.. i bet they are gonna be great

I played the B330-S in the beginning of last season. I liked it very much everywhere, apart from that it rolled out too much for me on shorter pitches. I feel more confident getting close to the pin with a Pro V1 or a Z-Star. Hopefully the new version rolls out less for me. At least that is what Bridgestone claims it will do.

 • 2 months later...

I just bought a couple sleeves of these balls, looking forward to trying them out. Austads(upper Midwest chain of golf stores) has a sale going on where you can get a trial pack(each pack has a sleeve of B330-s and B330 in it) for $15, so I picked up a few and would have gotten more if the limit wasn't two.

I've never hit the B330 and I only hit last year's version of the B330-s, which I thought was solid.

I saw last years for $32/doz at Dicks. What difference is there between the plain B330 and the S? I picked up some 2012 plain B330's as hopefully a more durable alternative to the ProV1x but am very interested in the S at that price if it is comparable to the V1x. (the store I was at only had the S at the cheaper pirce) Just want something that isn't too spinny off the driver and into greens but still feels somewhat soft, AND is freaky long  .

Ive got the b330s from last year, and the new b330 this year. i've played the prov1x golf ball since like 1999 or whenever it came out... and I switched to Bridgestone golf ball. I find it flies straighter and is better in the wind. I think it's as long or longer then the prov1x ball. It's also less expensive. I think bridgestone makes a great golf ball.

Was a long time Pro V1 player. Durability, distance, and control in the wind have always been an issue w/ V1, but around the greens 2nd-to-none.

This March picked up a dozen 2011 B330S for a deal. Pretty good, but still a tad too hard around the greens and not as consistently "soft" off the putter. But liked how it feels heavier than the Pro V1.

Yesterday played the 2012 B330S for the first time. WOW! Perfect ball for me!...bye-bye Pro V1.

Noticeably softer than the 2011; great spin and control and puts great! And it is still nice an long even on a slight miss. And not spiny like the V1. Effortless distance.

IMO, pay the extra $$$ and get the 2012.

BTW, my SS 100mph and I never got good results from the odd RX I found and played. The Bridgestone fitting chart seems to be more of a guide than a hard-and-fast.

Cheers.

Sounds great. Have you had a chance to play it in wind? My main struggle is finding something that cuts through wind and maintains a soft feel.

Thanks

Only played the 2012 B330-S once in zero wind. I have played the 2011 in wind and thought it cut through pretty well...better than Pro V1. I'm guessing the 2012 will be similar as the overall ball flight and spin seemed pretty close to the 2011...there was the odd shot with the 2012 which might have been tad higher than I was able to get with the 2011. Perhaps someone else can chime-in.

if the wedge performance is any indication, the b330/s should launch higher with less spin then the titleist prov1/x balls. see ball test conducted by golf digest
