Okay, so I hit the new V4 Hybrids and Irons..WAY BETTER THAN the last ones!! Yeah, the slot goes all the way thru the hybrids and are filled with a dense rubber. The sound was very solid and they were very long!! Not shaft length...distance wise!! Have the bassara shafts in the hybrids and they have reduced the length of the shafts to a much more realistic level. Easy to hit and look amazing...irons are gorgeous and feel amazing.

The 65g shafts were the worst part of the V3s. Too light and whippy even in stiff. There needs to be another option in graphite.

Hey T. didn't check the weight of the shafts...but looked similar to the ones from last year. but they felt solid...just hit the normal stiff shafts in the 3 and 4 hybrid...stiff steel in the 'normal' forged 6 iron...they are going to be rather good sellers!!

Oh man! I can't wait to see what Adams does when the full slot technology makes it's way to the next generation of the Super XTD fairways and hybrids.
Exactly what I was thinking...wonder if this technology will make it into the more "Player" like hybrids, Ex; Pro a12 or XTD???

Go Adams! (cool)

Hmmm..maybe....!! the new V4 hybrids have that 'muted thwack' to them sound-wise...just solid. The irons look like baby CB3's..! touch more offset I think, didn't compare head to head...but they are solid at address and really move the ball out there. Gee, he didn't have any demo's in X flex?!?!?!? so I couldn't get a great read on distance, but in the stiff in the monitor were flying 192-195 with the 6 iron...205+ with the 6 transition iron...normally my set goes about 192-195 max!! with the occasional 200 carry. The Adams were obviously in the wrong shafts, but for the avg mid swinger, the stiff should be fine..ball flight was consistent, if just a touch left with a draw most all the time though. And as one poster mentioned about the headcovers...they are pretty slick looking!!

Oh, I won't be using X flex anytime soon. Maybe if I lost some weight! LOL

They sound promising. That 6 irons sounds sick. That's a lot farther than my 6 iron. I'm usually getting 175 MAX out of mine, and that's me really laying into it! I have a pretty smooth swing until I have to try to get a touch more oomph out of it. They look really good, but I would have questions on the PVD finish of the irons. I'd probably go irons from the 5 down, but the rubber inserts in the irons and hybrids really have me intrigued. If the standard high capper puts a distance ball with minimal sidespin on it, they're going to see some MAJOR distance from it.

The clip that Adams is putting out stuff, makes me worry less about the TM acquisition every day. They seem to be really letting them stand on their own.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ( GET THE PICTURE YET?) put something other than the craptastic PVD finish on these bad boys. My V3's look like I've been playing them since the 80's and I've had them for less than a year with no help of refinishing them from Adams. Please use a better finish. The product is FANTASTIC, so protect it with something just as good..... PLEASE!

If the PVD finish is more durable, I'll consider them. That was pretty awful.

Agreed. That finish is awful and is a nightmare for people like myself who like their sticks to look nice all the time.

hit these yesterday very long and high launching with a solid feel unlike any previous hybrid.
These will work much better than the xtd for the slow-mid swing speeds looking for more distance and launch
I cant imagine how far it would go if it was a ti head.
oh yeah and I think it was all black head....sorry, I was watching the ball flight for a long time

Anyone know if these will be available through tmagconnection since tmag acquired them? Just switched from R11's to the V3's hybrid set and I love them. I do feel though that the shafts are not fit too well for me. Wish I could put the bassara hybrid shafts into the irons. Those are terrific in the hybrids.

Probably not. Even though they received a lifeline from TMaG, they're still their own company. They just have a parent company to answer to.

 • 1 month later...

I have the v3 iron/hybrid set and here are 2 pros and cons of this set(in my opinion)

1 I have an easy time hitting the irons and hybrids in this set.
-- For some reason, I can't hit the 7 iron to save my life. Supposedly this is the transition iron between the irons and the hybrids.

2 For the first time in my brief golfing career I can hit my targets if I slow down my swing.
-- Whenever I go after the ball I end up hooking it. Part of it might be due to my swing but I think the super-light shafts (65 gram bassara and 75 gram true temper) are a huge problem. Something is wrong when my driver shaft is only 5 grams lighter than my pitching wedge.
--
I am having a very difficult time hitting the 7 iron. It is hybrid/iron combination and it just doesn't work for me. Here is a picture

Love the V4 in all black and I agree looks better than the XTD. I wish I could hit one as I like my XTD and if the V4 is more forgiving- ding, ding we have a winner!
