Hey guys,

Im a junior golfer really working hard to play at the collegiate level. Im a senior in highschool and im working my a** off every day at the course to get where I need to be in order to play at the next level. I have tons of tournaments scheduled and need to post some really good scores in order to be able to have a good enough resume to play golf in college. I practice for 6+ hours a day and currently im a 4 hdcp. I know i dont have the game right now to play at any d1 and a lot of d2 schools. I also know that golf is a game where hard work always pays off and know matter where you start you can always reach your goal if you put your all into it. With that said I think equipment is a very important part of anyones golf game so I decided to show off mine

Driver:

  • Titleist 910 D2 w/ pink Aldila NV Stiff Shaft

I am beggining to hate this club!!!! The head/shaft combo is just way to much spin for me. It seems like no matter how much I practice with this club, it just doesnt do what I want it to do. Sometimes it feels like Im swingging it perfect and theres just no hope. I have been really working with this club at the range and hope that i can maybe find something but I seriously have my doubts. I took it to the local golf store and some of my spin rates were reaching the high 3,000's so i plan on picking something else up soon.

Hybrid:

  • Nikent Genex

This club is my bread and butter......nough said

Irons

  • Mizuno MP-59 3-PW

Pure buttery perfection.......nought said

Putter

  • Odyssey White Hot XG #1

If it aint broke dont fix it. I love this putter and have used it for quite a while as you can probably tell. It seems like I can make a lot of clutch putts with it.

Wedges

  • Vokey 54 & 58

Not much to say just great wedges

Well thats my stuff. I plan on picking up a new Driver and 3 wood here pretty soon. Ill keep you guys updated!!!

Try to find a better shaft for the Driver. Can find plenty good deals up here. The shaft is what makes a driver.

I have the D2 and love it, but the D3has less spin. First and foremost though, try the shaft change first. My guess is that it will have a bigger effect that a head change.

Taylormade M1 10.5* with Diamana Whiteboard S 70g shaft
Titleist 917 D2 3 wood with a Diamana 70 5ct S shaft
Ping Anser 20* hybrid,
Ping Anser 23* hybrid,
Mizuno MP18 SC 5-PW with KBS Tour 120 stiff shafts
50*, 54* & 60* Titleist SM6 wedges
Byron Morgan DH89 SS with Super Stroke 1.0 grip

That is a SOLID looking setup Grant. Did you photograph them in a mirror? They appear to be backward LOL.
I agree with some others on your driver shaft. If your spin rates are around 3000, I know there is room for improvement with your shaft selection.
Keep grinding away and hit em straight.

Thanks guys, I thought about getting another shaft but this club is also getting pretty old sence ive had it so long. I tested it out on the trackman and along with the high spin numbers, my launch angle was WAYYYY to high. So i guess that combination is what is making me hit it off. I thought this would be because i have a 10.5* head w/ a light shaft?? Im not certain about these things though. I tested out some really low spin dirver/shaft combos and i found two drivers that really helped. The Ping i20 w/ Project X 6.0 and the R11s w/ Aldila RIP Phenom really lowered my spin and helped with the launch angle as well. I also gained 5+ mph swing speed, 7 mph ball speed, and about 15 yards carry. Im not a very big hitter in the first place (I hit my driver avg 270) so i need all the help i can get. Im still going to try some more shafts just because i dont want to fork out $400 when I dont need to, but if all else fails im going to pick up one of those Drivers.

I just got a ad di7s for my i20 14* 3 wood. AND love it. Play a i20 10.5 attas element rk 7s in driver but got it cut from 45.5 to like 44.75. and the swing weight is like d.05. Just ordered Lead tape to try and fix that. I've recently started getting high end shafts and they really do play better than stock shafts.

whent to golfsmith today to make a final decision, and I know see the difference in shafts!!!! we changed the shaft in my driver a couple times and just could get the numbers to where i wanted. So then we started testing other drivers and I ended up with two. The R11 w/ Stiff Aldila RIP NV 60 and the Razr Fit w/ Stiff Aldila RIP NV 60. I hit every driver they had in LH with a lot of different shafts and these are the two it came down to. I absolutely love the RIP NV and it seems like it fits me perfect. I also liked the project x shaft but this one flew a little bit higher. I still have to make my final decision though. Thansk for the advice on the shaft i would have probably never even ecperimented with them.
