If there is a patent infringement TM may b able to argue about small and large simple patterns. I don't know of the hex is exclusive to callaway, but a dimple is a dimple. No? If TM wants that much market share price them at the current tp3 point. Sell them by the boat load. Remember when penta's were on sale? I knew few people that weren't playing them. Tp5 is a really good ball as are the penta in general. An improvement would blow my mind. TM really needs to come with quality and price. Hex black is fantastic in every way e and if they price em at 30-35 then prov dominance would end

I doubt that Callaway could patent hexagonal dimples. You can't patent a standard geometric shape in that type of use.

 

I mean, unless they were Monsanto.

My Fave three this year were the B330, TP5 and 20xi-x. if they can make it longer and retain greenside characterisitics, then it will truly give the B330 a run for it's money.

Actually, I have tried everything TM has done over the last couple years- Penta TP, Penta TP 3/5, burner and RBZ. All have been great balls in one way or another. Even their range balls are better than some of the "premium" balls out there

Looks Like the dimples are indeed a hexagonal shape"ish"... they rounded out the angles it looks however instead of having sharp defined angular hexagons like callaway

The dimples themselves aren't hexagons but area they take up is hexagonal shape. Basically each circular dimple is surround by a hexagonal space to increase surface coverage, basically its a circle inside a hexagon. The reason it looks like a hexagon is because of an optical illusion your mind plays at you. If you look at the dimples that are head on they are circular but as they move the edges they look more hexagonal. Its a illusion by your mind that focuse more on the edges of the hexagon rather than the roundness of the dimlple.

This doesn't infringe on callaway because callaways dimple are actually hexagonal in shape, not circular inside a hexagonal frame.

Loved the TP Red LDP, but thought the original Penta was meh. Really digging the new TP5's, though. Really hope the Project 5 is a nice blend between the Red and TP5.

On a side note, I find it hilarious that I'm quite anti-TM clubs, but I'm a huge fan of their golf balls. Anyone else the same way, or just me?

Glad to see they got rid of some of the dimples.The original tp red is my favorite taylormade ball.I found a couple sleeves in my golf room and hit them against the penta and the tour blacks Ive been trying.The old reds are still a better wind ball.My 2 cents.

Why they quit making the TP Red LDP is still my biggest gripe ever with golf balls. The TP5 works pretty well for me, but still a step back IMO. Hopefully these will be closer to where they were a couple years ago with the LDP's. Fingers crossed...

I lost distance going to the tp5, playing the tp3 right now and it gives me same distance but not enough bite on the greens...love the feel of tp5 on putter and wedge shots...gained distance on mid irons for me but lost it on driver for sure....

Hope this new ball is the one that I'll have no complaints on....

It is not like the LDP, look at the dimples, they are different. The Red had different sized dimples....

Talked to Peter Hanson at the KLM Open EuropeanTour event on Tuesday and he told me that the ball is especially long against the wind, down wind its just as long as the older model but in the wind he received 7-8 yards extra! The ball stays longer on its line and the angle of decent is normal instead of the normal dying balflight again the wind. Sounded really good what he told!!
