Played it on xbox last night and all golfers still have the generic swing. I just dont get why they cant have their own authentic swing. Every other sports game does this for the most part. It seems like such a simple thing to incorporate and imo it ruins the game for me. I believe they even uses authentic swings in older versions of the game.

I remember on Tiger Woods 05 (I think) when you could purchase unique swings for your player e.g one handed swing. Also, the pro shop was massive compared to the newer versions. And finally the course editor was great. It seems like the games are going backwards :(

I wish another company would make a golf game and put some pressure on E.A. There's no reason there can't be a golf game on the level of MLB: The Show. That is one of the most perfect sports games I've ever played.
Totally agree. 2013 is the best i've played in the series and it's still a LONG ways from as good as it COULD be. That ridiculous dink with the hair who's in charge of production... I would guess he's never even played golf. No caddies next to the player. generic swings, cartoon graphics, pretty bad animations, on the whole, considering what NBA 2K and FIFA and MLB The Show produce, camera angles suck, commentary is dull (how about two or three guys in the booth...) options to to tee it up in different areas of the tee box, time of day option, season option, lighting effects are weak, cut scenes are very blah. I've just always found there to be no real golf feel. You play MLB the Show and you feel Baseball, you play FIFA and you feel Soccer, same with the NBA 2K series. The Tiger Woods series - nah.... just missing something, always has been in my opinion. They need competition from another company and EA should probably get some new people working on the game that actually have experience playing the golf.
Don't get me wrong, 2013 is decent, it's just still very underachieving.

how are you supposed to play 12 at augusta when the wind 15 mph wind chages direction 90 dregrees each second!? everybody's/hot shots 4 is so much better than this. and hot shots 5 for that matter.

get the basic gameplay right instead of adding gimmicky crap to make it look like there's depth next time (not likely).

EA Sports is the king of adding gimmicks and hype it up to sell the following years version. Cone vision in Madden, Tiger legacy in Masters, etc.

I've always wished that the guys who do Hot Shots golf would be able to do a PGA Tour sanctioned game. Granted, Hot Shots is pretty easy, but I'm sure they could make it more difficult with some tweaks.

I will now return to my golf nerdom...

The putting this year is ridiculous!
I don't care for the Total Swing Control method either, but I've found that you can recover the more proportional "Precision Putting" method we've grown accustomed to over the last three years. Take aim with the targeting curor as if you're going to use the default putting process. Then run the aiming cursor out to 80 feet (for Tiger 10's Precision Putting and 120 feet for Tiger 11 and 12 Precision Putting) and use the proportional stroke you feel is needed to send the ball the desired distance. It feels a lot better to me and certainly, more natural. While it's not tuned for this method quite as well as Tiger 10, which I still had the best putting interface of the series, it's still more manageable and consistent for me than the twitchy possibilities that are intrinsic to the TSC putting model.

another EA fail. you may as well skip any tournaments with high wind because it doesnt take the conditions into acount when generating scores. it was the same in the last game i played , tiger woods 10. get a clue EA.

after battling to a -4 in 28 mph winds i'm in 49th place after round one, NINE shots behind the leader. 28 mph wind!

Okay, let me ask you this... did you play Tiger 10, 11, or 12? If you did, then you're familiar with what was called the Precision Putting interface. In Tiger 10, the putting interface was set such that the maximum putt was 80 feet, on a flat, average speed green. You had to gauge what percentage of that distance you needed for the putt you're facing, and swing the putter with a stroke proportional to the distance you want to hit it. The same was true for Tiger 11 and 12, the only difference being that a maximum putt in those two would go 120 feet.

I always thought Tiger Woods 10 had the most intuitive and properly scaled putting interface. This is why I'm trying to turn Tiger 13's Total Swing Control putting interface into Tiger 10, by running the cursor out to 80 feet. It's still a bit touchy on putts of 10 feet or less, but works great from 10 to 65 feet.

I hope this makes sense...

putting is pretty simple in the game. although its nothing like real life where tempo matters, in the game just pull back as slowly as possible until you get to the indicated power level and then push forward. putting is different in that all that matters is how far you pull the club back but doesnt take into account the speed. you don't have to have smooth back then forward. just creep the putter back and then push forward when you get to the right level.
