Right now you need to be patient

"Right now you need to be patient"

That's what my fortune cookie told me at the thai takeout place last night. I think it was good advice.

I practiced all day Sunday and went from hitting it amazing to hitting it awful. I got video and could see how old habits started coming back in.

I've changed a lot of stuff in my swing so at this point I feel like almost ANYTHING can go wrong because so much of it is different. I can get in a groove on the range where I hit it really really solid, but I'll also get sloppy somewhere in my swing and start hitting it awful where it feels impossible to hit it strait.

Anyone else deal with this when they've went through major swing changes? I'm reading the game before the game now, and I'm trying to make sure I practice effectively, but any advice/experiences is/are appreciated.

I think the best way is to find the one or (maybe) two things that will lead the body towards better overall tendencies as a matter of course, rather than micromanage a swing into inconsistency. I think good players unconsciously compensate for new changes, and that those changes don't always need to be specifically addressed and practiced to the nth degree when all that is needed is time.

Good stuff. I forget about this. If you work on the correct 1 or 2 little things, a bunch of other stuff falls into place. I definitely micromanage. Thanks

Get a really good good good teacher who knows and has proven (himself) what he's talking about...

In the process of it. I've been going on a lesson/information binge.

Yup, agree with that. Figure it out up there first. :good: Then once decided on what you think is correct for you, just bang balls to implement it and, if budget allows it, get a teacher consistent with it.

yeah man, micromanaging can completely destroy a golf swing. I've found like others mentioned if you focus in on 1 or 2 key things (a teacher can help find them if one is lost) a bunch of other stuff falls into place accordingly.

The great thing about working with a teacher who gets to know your game over a period of time is that the 1 or 2 things you work on & master lead to the next 1 or 2 things & so on...pretty soon, with time & effort, there's a golf swing.

OP, totally relate to your info binge. . . lots of good stuff out there & takes time to get through it to find what works for you.
