Tiger Woods is copying Ben Hogans swing (discussion)!! 2012 US Open Video!

I would like to start a discussion about Tiger Woods' new swing methodology which I believe is very similar if not copying the great Ben Hogan's swing. I think Tommy Bolt said that he had seen Jack Nickaus watch Ben Hogan but never saw Hogan watch Nicklaus, which gives credence to Hogans swing methodology as the modern swing methodology in golf.

 

I would like to have a similarity and difference discussion on the topic of Tiger Woods and Ben Hogan and any other interesting and relevant discussion that pertains to both while plugging my Youtube video which has hundreds of thousands of views.

The one thing that he has that is different is his club face, which is much more shut at the top. I prefer Hogan's look, and I wonder why Tiger plays with his club face that shut when he fears going left so much.

Hogan's was pretty open at the top. People will argue forever whether that's good or bad. It worked for him. Everyone is different, what works for one person desn't necessarily work for another. A number of great/good golfers have had pretty unorthodox swings.

The thing that amazed me was, in the head on view, how much the shaft was loaded on the downswing.

I think you'll maybe find that it's actually Foley using some of Hogans fundamentals...not TW

Foley has taken a bit of Hogan and some S&T and perhaps some Slicefixer and molded a sort of method out of it. Not a definite method because all of his players swings are reasonably different. You don't get a more down the line, roll the wrists over type swing than Rose (Ok you do, Vijay, but he has quite the flip) and I don't think anyone on tour releases further left than Mahan. Tiger is sort of in between those two. It is no doubt a swing built for solid ball striking. If he can get his distance control with his wedges back we could be in for a run.
