Another possible camera option?

Like many, I am in the market for a really good camera to capture the golf swing. I stumbled upon this one. It does much higher quality images than others I have seen. HD at 120 fps and 640 x 480 at 240 fps. I'm no camera expert and have read that it has fully manual photo and video control, hopefully that means manual shutter. These videos look really good to me:

It isn't cheap at $500 plus but it has excellent reviews. Thought from the GolfWrx camera experts?

A person could obtain an online video swing analysis from Herman Williams. He then tells you how to video it

Canon ZR85 The key is manual shutter speed of 1/2000 sec. critical for blur free shaft 1/1000 will work

And the Casio high speeds He cites casio EX FH-100 Slow motion 100 frames per sec - 1000 frames per second ( not same a shutter speed)

Casio makes many that are not high speed so pay attention to specs.

the Panasonic looks great.
expensive yep but its not just a toy for golf swings.
been reading a bit about it,
a bit vague actually even the Panasonic manual.
but this is what it seems to do.
frame rates of 120 or 240 fps, at resolutions of 1280 x 720 and 640 x 480
high speed is shot with manual settings, shutter speeds from 1/30 - 1/2000
capture is in MP4 format, up to 30 minutes (4Gig).

i think 120 fps with a 1280x720 image size would look amazingly good.
the blurry images and small size from the Casio's is a big compromise to get a high frame rate.
interestingly the highest quality video it does is 1080p60 (AVCHD recording codec)
that's full HD image size (1080x1920) at 60 frames per second, progressive scan (no interlacing problems).
if you have software to handle this video (it is 28 mbs data rate, i.e. huge!),
maybe 60 frames a second is good enough for what you want to see and it would be in full HD.

so maybe expensive for golf swings only,
but it is a real camera for real photos and very high quality video as well,
i don't you would ever need a real video camera if you had this camera.

Thanks, so if i am correct-you have confirmed that this camera has manual shutter adjustment? If that's definite I think I'm going to see if Santa can't hook me up. The videos i have seen are much better looking then any I have seen from a Casio but the manual shutter control is important

ping eye2 -

I am unsure, but what does the new iphone 5 capture at? I use that with an "in your face" iphone mount and can record my swing REALLY well. The new iphone is unreal for this. Its not Bizhub camera quality, but it works really well for slow motion on the go vids on the range.

i also use the "swing reader" iphone app.

One thing not to overlook is the quality of the card onto which the image is being saved. A high speed card is worth the extra $$$ IMO.

Just looking at the first video you posted shows me blur in whatever that dude is swinging around. I'll take a look at the manual, though.

As far as the speed of the SD card, you just need a card which is "fast enough" not to drop frames. Beyond that there's no benefit except for the speed at which data copies from the card to your computer.

Not great news.

The Panasonic LUMIX FZ200 does not have full manual controls at high speed. It's basically all automatic in the high speed modes. Exposure comp and white balance is about all you can adjust. The full manual controls are only in the 60 fps HD video modes.
