Well that's what it's been like here in western Mass. For the past two weeks I have been playing, by myself, on a completely empty golf course. It's a semi private club, and the members have hung 'em up for the season, so that leaves just me.

Let me tell you, it gets lonely.

Frankly, I love having the course all to myself.

Are you kidding? lonely? The last time I played I saw 2 guys 4 holes ahead of me and one person 3 holes behind. Course has not gone soft/mushy yet, temps in the 40s, so I hit 2 off the tee and then hit shots from places I usually don't go, things I want to work on, or sometimes just play a 2 ball vs myself. I'm no recluse, but I love just being out this time of year and having the course somewhat to myself. Groundskeeper comes by the other day. I've hit 5 or 6 out of the trap. I'm raking and he says, "thanks for raking." Tosses me 4 all but new Titleist Pro Vs from the cart. This is a very nice semi-privat club and December the after 12:30 PM rate is $20.00 as opposed to the normal $49.00. Gotta love that too. Every day now could be it till spring so hit'em, go get'em and hit'em again!

I enjoy playing by myself occasionally. But it's more fun with a group and little action on the game. We're still getting quite a bit of play here in northern VA. We're down to one course (our winter course, par 73, 5 par 5's). Weather the past couple of Sats was very nice, the week before that it was poker, that's what we do when the weather isn't so nice. This week looks slightly marginal but probably playable. Have 16 confirmed for a weekly tournament I run.

We utilize opportunities like these to play some Cross Country on nights after all our daily play is off the course and its still light out =]

Not sure what Cross Country is. Have been wanting to get up to play Bulle Rock, heard it's great, gonna make the effort this year.

Cross Country = Combining holes to make even more ridiculous holes. (I.E. teeing off from the par 3 3rd hole tee box over green off the cliff to 4 fairway -- then playing in to 4 green) hahaha

And yes come check us out! It's 18 completely unique, magnificent Pete Dye holes that will humble the best of em, haha.

Not gonna lie. I would probably have a blast and pack in as many rounds as I can lol. Not having to run into foursomes playing "old people" golf would be a dream come true.

I play all the time on uncrowded courses in SoCal. Afternoon is best, soggy days also. But I also play in pretty pristine conditions with few people on the course. It's all about picking your spot and your time-if you want to play a Prime course at a Prime time, be prepared to pay Prime rates with PLENTY of buddies...Got to be smart if you want to golf a lot. I've played 3-18 hole rounds this week, with a cart on nice uncrowded courses for $35 in Ventura County, CA.

How fast can you get around?

I don't mind being in a twosome-foursome so long as we aren't being held up. To never wait on a shot is my dream golf course regardless of conditions.

That's how it is at my club as well. Majority of the members are over 60 so they like to do the early morning golf. In the afternoon I'm usually the only one there. Kinda ere but it's really cool. I like playing multiple balls from tricky spots just for fun to see how I can o in those intuitions. Also love the cross country golf.
