Anthony Ravielli - overstating certain Hogan positions

Recommended Posts

it seems we may have been misled by Anthony Ravielli - even though Mr Hogan must have approved of his drawings before they went to print, I know this is 50 years later but some people are discussing it and figuring out that Ben actually swung it a little different to the book

Sooooooooo his argument is that tiger woods is a hacker and everyone is obsessed with the front cover of five lessons? Lol

I've only been trolling this forum for a couple years and I don't remember anyone mentioning the front cover of five lessons and the additional 20 degrees of spine tilt...and tiger's a hacker? Come on.

Love the quote about transforming someone who shoots in the 90 to scratch in 4 weeks. Lol

>his argument is that tiger woods is a hacker and everyone is obsessed with the front cover of five lessons

first of all it is an observation ( not an argument ) , the observation being that many readers of the book may have taken the position at impact ( on the front cover ) as gospel, when in fact ( and is now proven by video analysis ) that Ravielli over emphasized that lo and behold Tiger at one point was copying that Hogan position - sorry to state the obvious !

>Love the quote about transforming someone who shoots in the 90 to scratch in 4 weeks

he was a good player ( David Huertas shooting in the low seventies when he was 14 ) , he then did some weights and went to a college that taught him the Hogan way

don't shoot me down when I am only the messenger, and even I can see that Ravielli exaggerated the impact position and Ben approved this drawing, which I thought may help some people to see the real truth here

I didn't mean to crash and burn you personally. I just don't think that video was very persuasive. They just seemed to be making random claims to support their marketing campaign and that's it.

Dairic, I agree with you there, my only aim was to show the difference in spine angle on the front cover to what Hogan actually did at impact ( nothing more nothing less ) , not many people want to see the truth - or the actual video analysis ( which Somax convey quite well ) , but forget the marketing guff or what they are trying to sell, I was only observing the difference between the Ravielli drawing and the actual video - nothing more buddy !

Most of the drawings by Ravielli in Five Lessons were copied from photographs of Hogan. Many of them were posed, not part of swing-footage, and many of them were posed with the intent to make specific points. The video presents 'evidence' comparing pictures from different parts of the book, apples and oranges, and the assumptions that pictures from different parts of the book were made from the same perspective is false, IMO.

I was thinking the same - but you can't tell these Hogan ( Love Affair ) boys anything, they know it all :-)

It's not precise because it was probably drawn from a different swing, but it's accurate in that it shows approximately the same amount of axis tilt which addresses the claim made in the video.
