Fairly certain I smartphoned my way into a repetitive motion injury

I'm on it ALL the time. Nothing smart about that

 

Will be spending more time on a PC and less time reading GolfWRX while lounging in front of the telly.

 

Many years playing contact sports, skiing, motorcycling, drumming, playing golf and never a wrist injury. Done in by an electronic handheld device.

 

3 weeks before my complete bag fitting at Club Champion, but it's beginning to feel better after ibuprofen/rest/exercises.

Motorola Droid X. The constant swiping-with- the-left-index-finger motion. Getting good with my right thumb now.

Aces: I don't have a tablet, but Physical Therapists are seeing RMIs from users holding up tablets. FYI.

In a similar vein, I wonder at times if people will tend to become more nearsighted with the amount of Internet surfing that takes place on phones these days.

Some people (like my parents) said that "you shouldn't be watching the telly, monitor, etc. so much or up close, it'll ruin your eyes". Later on in adult life I've understood that people get near sighted when they aren't spending enough time looking far away outdoors. Looking at a tablet/phone screen up close in itself shouldn't be bad for your eyes. I'm sure someone who has the facts can correct me if I'm wrong.

[/quote]Yep. Didn't need glasses until I was 26-27. At that only when driving at night or to see things far away.

We got our 1st computer in the mid 80s when I was 15-16 (Commodore 64) and since then... my focal point was *holds arm out straight, turns palm of hand back to face* there. At least my optometrist says I'll never ever need reading glasses. I have perfect vision until about 10 feet out.

About 4 weeks ago, (don't know why I didn't think of this sooner) I started NOT wearing my glasses everywhere. Only when I absolutely HAD to. (And I can see things far away, just not in GREAT detail).

You don't actually damage your eyes looking at screens etc, what you do is tire them out. That's why your vision starts to falter a bit after looking at all of these little screens and monitors all day, your eyes are tired. No real harm in it, just take eye breaks a couple times a day.

As for the OP, streaming less porn sneakily on your phone might help alleviate that "repetitive strain" injury if you know what I mean.

I'm having a similar issue with my right thumb...learning to type over again with my index finger instead.
