Mizzy TN-91 heads that are going to get refinished

I have a set of the legenday Mizuno TN-91 irons - quite a bit of sole wear but the faces and grooves are fine.....so....

 

Does anyone wish to offer suggestions as to who to send them to to get them back to the original finish (or close) ?

 

Iron Factory ?

 

Other ?

Yes, as close as possible to the original satin chrome - which had a faint green tint somehow

I've only had experience with Iron factory, so I will vouch for them.

I had them refinish my MIzzy MP33s in the original chrome about 8 months back. It looked so good that I couldnt believe it was the same heads that I sent them. I kept thinking they had an inventory of brand new heads that they swapped out for any old ones that they received for refinishing. But for what it cost me, it wouldn't have been a good business model I guess.

Try them out, good customer service to boot.

Nice. I think the 87s were more legendary. The 91s tend to dig iirc.

The faint green could be the copper being exposed to air. Lot of guys out there doing quality work, it'll come down to how much you are willing to spend.

There are a few places that you can go to:

Someone here went to Continental Golf and they can do almost anything.
Chop and Shop Golf in Michigan-They BOS my Mizuno Irons. Did a really nice job.
Ace of Clubs Golf located in Massachusetts.

Send them to Jim Kronus at The Iron Factory. Best I've found out there and really reasonable. He's got my Nike Split Cavity Protos right now.

I also have some old mp 33s could you possibly put some photos up of the heads refinished?

If you are only having the heads done, KJ Polishing. The chrome looks great. Paintfill is just okay, and club assembly is sub par. Good cheap chrome if you are going to reassemble the clubs.

Those things are beautiful!! Did they have any browning at all before they were rechromed?? My wedge and 9 have no groove damage but slight browing

Then you'll definitely love the finished product.

I bought the heads off another member, and these were the pictures he posted for the sale, so they qualify as the "before" pics. I shipped them off to the Iron factory as soon as I received them. The difference is night and day as you can see. The wedge and 9 had the most browning, you can see how the wedge specifically turned out in the "after" pics.

I didn't have the 3 & 4 iron re-chromed that's why they are not in the "after" pics, but are in the "before". It didn't appear that they'd seen much action so there was no need for the expense.

Chrome was fantastic, paint fill not great and I did the install myself because I've heard and seen their install work and it isn't great. I will get some pics this morning when I go into work.[/color]

[color=#008000]That's a pic of (58*, 54*, PW, 6I and 2I). The heads weren't clean so they aren't as shiny as they could be. The pic almost looks like there are marks or streaks in the chrome but there really isn't...just grass stain [/color][color=#008000].[/color][color=#008000] Great chrome job at the lowest price I've seen.[/color]

[color=#008000]Groove work with K&J is sketchy.... I didn't have the Tour Model's done because they're a V groove. Once the chrome was stripped and they were polished the grooves were great. The wedges were grooved and they destroy balls lol - great spin action though. I wouldn't recommend getting clubs grooved from K&J if you're as picky as I am.[/color]
