Salty Putter Grips

Very interesting! Suprised no one thought of using cork before...I'm a wine buff and I also have cork floors in my finished basement. Cork is "self-healing" which makes it great for kitchen and basement floors that you'd drop things on and make dents. I imagine it would be great for putter grip too. It's another great way to get a new life on old putters i.e. old Pings with 290g heads, it would make them the same swingweight as newer styles. My only concern would be (being up here in Seattle) that they'll get slicker than snot in the rain.

Nice to see someone making new Cork putter grips. Woods Bros. Golf used to offer them on their putters back in the 80's as I recall, and then they came out with a whole new line in the mid to late 90's.. Called "Switch" putters. They had cork grips and mallet heads with graphics on the crown... The grips felt great, imparting a very soft feel to the putter (without being too "squishy" or torquey) and I think were fairly durable. I'm a big fisherman, so I'm interested in these myself. :)

Good luck to Salty!

And thanks for the find rlheiman!

Best,

Had it put on today and all I can say is wow. The weight feel and probably size all contribute to one of the most relaxed feeling grips ever. Your wrists never tense, nor your hands. Now, I don't have that problem for the most part, but when I'm off (like now, haven't played in a month) it can show up. I honestly don't think it's possible to tense up with one of these.

With the salty on my BeCu anser2 it looks fantastic too. Has a great, warm vibe and just looks classy.

My club guy fell in love, he's emailing Whit tonight lol.

I've got to eat my words !! :swoon:

When I first looked at these grips I thought they were a little too expensive but after reading some additional post's & reading reviews on these grips I decided what the hey I blow $30 just sitting still, so I decided to order one.

Best $30 I've spent in a long time !!!!

After installing it on my putter I went out & played the next day ...one of the best putting rounds I've had in a long time ...ended up shooting a 78 with no 3 putts which is something rare for me.

I love the weight of this grip, Extremely light...Let's you really feel your putter through your stroke.
It seems like when you have it in your hands, your hands just naturally relax ...it's hard to explain but it's almost like you're barely holding on to your putter ...best overall experience I've had with a new putter grip in all of my years golfing.

Not only is the grip awesome but my dealings with Whit one of the owners was great !!! Fantastic customer service !! ...First Class all the way !!

So, don't be a idiot like I was thinking that $30 might be too much to pay for a grip that's new & different ...invest $30 for one of these grips ..Your game will appreciate it !!!!

I just got a new putter that is amazing. However, I sliced off the grip and tossed this bad boy on. I was amazed at how it fit my hands so well. The depth of the grip at the top is great and gives me the same confident feel that the Pistolero gave me. However, this grip is nice and firm and enhances the crisp audible click of my new Softtail putter. Wow is all I have to say. I had doubts like many, but this grip is really something special. The light weight also made me feel the head a little more, which was a nice change from other grips.

I did give it a light pass with some sandpaper and it has a great velvet feel that relaxes your hands, but a firmness that you can't find with rubber, leather or anything else.

Don't hesitate to pull the trigger. I installed mine with two wraps as recommended and it was just as easy as any other grip to slide on. Can't wait to show my golf buddies in Maine.

The guys at Salty are the best.

$30 for the grip is not bad at all. I have built a handful of custom fishing rods as another hobby and cork is not inexpensive if you use good flor grade cork. If it is a lower grade it is still not cheap but usually has filler in it to smooth out some of the pits. A cork grip on a putter is a great idea.

I had my clubfitter put one of these on a Cleveland Classic Black #7 last week, picked it up yesterday. Today was the first opportunity I'd had to play it. Fewest putts I've ever had in a round. I guess that means it's OK. :) It's a BIG grip - big enough where it doesn't fit too well in the putter tube on my Ogio bag. But if I keep sinking putts like this, I can live with jiggling the handle in and out of the bag.

These would be a God-send for those looking to convert a regular putter to a belly.

On a different note, I have an old Darby Blade that has a cork grip on it that was given to me in high school. It's always felt really nice but could never find anyone to claim they made it.

Thanks Salty for doing this again. :hi:

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

so just how big are these? anything comparable, size/shape-wise?
[/quote]

I just got mine in the mail. I got their original which is a jumbo. I compare it to the Slim lite grips. I love the feel and the weight is unreal. I can't believe how light it is and how great the feel of the ball coming off the putter is. I am really pleased with it and dealing with Mark from Salty grips was an unbelievably pleasant experience. He has won a customer here in Canada. I look forward to trying out the different sizes that he has in the works. But for now, this one is just right.

I'm interested for sure. I also fish quite a bit so these make perfect sense to me. Those of you that have had it on a few months, how are they holding up? What would you compare the size to?

Can somebody describe the proper and safe method for installation, I'm going to order one of these tomorrow and I'm guessing they may be a little corky to install :) BB
