Super nice wedges. I have a 60 and a 54. They are longer than the Cleveland 588 TGs and feel heavier but very well balanced. It's super easy to open these up. I like the crome finish also. They spin the ball very well.

=) maverick

I've had the 54/12 & 58/10 in my bag for about 4 months... Wedges are the most important clubs for me. I was playing "original" snake eyes over 9 years. Bought 3 sets (48, 52, 56, 60) many years ago when Earnie V was running the company. Darn near took them to bed with me ;)

Progressive bounce is fantastic if you love creative wedge shots, as I do. However, the chrome had worn off my last set, grooves weren't sharp any long, but boy are they sweet due to the soft forging.

But it was time for a change. I purchased many named wedges hoping to find their replacement, eventually selling each and going back to my SEye's.

Then I stumbled across Cleveland 588 DSG. To my surprise they have pre-worn sole, and have 2 bounce angles.

Bounce near the heal and at the toe is the same...low, not sure maybe 5* and the stated bounce in the middle of the face. I am able to use these on both tight and soft lies due to the leading edge and bounce configuration. For tight lies, I play the ball close to the hosel, toe up. For toe chipping around the green, I lift the heal, pushing the toe under the ball slightly. Square or hood the face on tight lies or full shots, or open it slightly toe up, even lay it wide open for a flat face flops close to the ground.

The one's I purchased are D6, heavier then Vokey's or CG10's which I prefer. The milled face and grooves give me incredible spin, up to 20' in some cases on our fast greens. The added SW isn't due to the S300 shafts, Cleveland added weight somehow to get them to D6, love it though. What's nice is the satin face finish doesn't reflect at all.

The longer I use them, the more feel and comfort I have with them. What's also nice is the distance on full shots, compared to other wedges for me. My 54 is 70yd-100yd club and my 58 is 70yds or less. I am so pleased, I am getting the 3* bounce 60*.

If you want a wedge that's workable in a variety of ways, this is it.

I have had the 56 degree in the bag since May and love just about everything about it. I can hit it from anywhere and don't have to worry about how it will respond. It can be used for any condition (firm, hardpan, deep rough, ect.). Has to be the best wedge I have every had in the bag.

Only gripe is the head metal seems a little soft and is showing wear already on the sole. Except for that it is a great club.

Its easier to hit any number of different shots around the green with these clubs. If you're after a club for mostly full shots you may be better suited elsewhere, but on partial shots or those that require an open face there is no better club. Really a great club to have in the bag for when you've short sided yourself. Does the work of many clubs in changing conditions.

Just bought myself the RTG version of this club in 60 degrees.

I have a tradition of holing a shot with every LW I have ever bought in the first round that I put it into play. This one was no different and I managed a hole out for par after dumping my second in the water. Was on a steep upslope with the green sloping away. Never looked like missing. Also stiff'd a few others from tricky lies so overall I am happy with the club.

I am a long time 900 series user and since Cleveland stopped manufacture of the 900 series I have been looking for an able replacement. I did buy up the last remaining low bounce 900's I could find but recently my last one's face got smooth and I decided it was time to give the DSG a go. I like the idea of the sole grind on the club.

I have always been a low bounce wedge player so the 3* bounce of the DSG appealed to me and the fact that you can open it up in the bunker and add substantial bounce. This all sounds good in theory but I found due to my lack of ability did not work so well in practice. That having been said, I did not practice at all prior to taking the club out for a whirl. Also battled a little with distance control with fuller shots.

However with the real money shots between 10 and 50 yards the club performed just as I would want. Coupled with a Nike Black on Sunday it did the job brilliantly and I got up and down almost every time I missed the green but not from the 2 greenside bunkers I hit as the ball came out too soft.

Overall I am happy but reserve final judgement on the club until aftre I have practiced a little with it to get used to the different bounce charateristics of the sole.

I have the 3* bounce 60* LW. I have found that it is a little easier to play from sand than the normally very low bounce wedges. I know the design method behind the club is that it would retain the same bounce irrespective of how much you open the club but I have found that it seems to bounce more because of the grind than my old 4* Vokey.

I must add though that here in Johannesburg South Africa, our bunker sand tends to be pretty firmly packed so it does favour a lower bounce. I have used it a little out of fluffy sand and it has performed well enough.
i am also intrested to switch to these from vokey's.
that would be great if anyone could let me know?

peace
hey i have not yet tried the 588 dsg rtgs yet but i know how it feels when nobody answers your question so i figured id let u know that the vokeys are really great wedges. They spin more than any other club ive ever tried are very easy to contol trajectory-wise. However, they eat up balls on full shots. If you use a softer ball, you may have to switch after two or three full shots. Other than that they are hands down one of the best wedges out there. Try both out and research a little on both wedges and see what each contains more of. One wedge will contain more of what is important to you such as spin, feel, distance, forgiveness in bunkers, control, ect.
Had the DSG's, traded them for the CG12's (wasn't impressed) and just re-traded my CG 12's for the 54/60 DSG's. Best clubs for working shots around the green IMO. I would highly recommend trying these before buying anything else.
Which wedge spins more? the dsg 588 or the cg12? Details? Anybody know?

I recently acquired a 60* dsg rtg and I absolutely love the club. I had been playing with a 54* cg 10 and i like that club alot for what i use it for ( primarily 90-115 shots) as it maintains a balance of being a solid club while having a smallish head, and can be hit closed or open easily to help with distance/spin control. However, for my 60* i really did not want such a thick top line and was generally looking for a much "thinner" type of head. The club has treated me great thus far, and I really enjoy how easy it is to manipulate the ball and hit different types of shots with it.

For the most part, spin is the result of SS and ball contact; grooves are secondary. Of the two above (I use to own 3-DSG's, still have a 58 that isn't used), neither spins more then the other...

If the shaft, head weight, grip, groves and the ball is the same; swing will make the difference.

I LOVE the grind on these DSG wedges!

I got a chance to demo a 60* for an afternoon and it was AWESOME. I am constantly opening the face for various shots, mostly flops, and this wedge fits my game perfectly.

I've hit the Callaway C-Grind X-Forged wedges and while also excellent, the DSG just feels better to me.

The only problem I have with them is I don't have enough golf fundage right now to buy a set to replace my haggard Armours. But I can almost guarantee I will have a set of 588 DSG's sometime in the near future.
