Adams Tour review

Recommended Posts

Just a short but sweet review of an Adams Ovation Tour fw. I just received a Adams Tour club from KappaRaider. I will not be able to play this club til next year, as we have some snow here, but got to hit some balls from my yard. I haven't swung a club in a few weeks, so a little rusty, but I was amazed at the feel and solidness of this club. I was told I would like it, and so far, so good.

I hope everyone would take the chance like I did and try an Adams fw. They are first rate and they sit perfectly square. This wood and the Taylor 200 Tour are the only square faced looking clubs to me.

Sorry for such a limited review, but I would defy anyone to find a better fw. Check them out.

857 Pro-Ti,

I just bought a 4060 from KappaRaider. I've heard some really good things about the tour Adams equipment and decided to put the 4060 13 up against my 200 tour smoothie 13.

The smoothie is the best fw that I've owned so this will be an interesting comparison.

If I like the 4060, my winter project may be putting together a whole Adams bag. I love the look of the ATour irons and am on a search for a set.

Rev.- get ready to bst those smoothies... the Adam Fw's are the real deal.. very solid great feedback and crazy long.. I have had 2 other in play for the last two months.. these are the best Kept secret in golf right now.. but not for long... I have 2 50/50's.. one 13.5 and one 14*... one with a pro95 and the other with VS proto 80(freakin rocket launcher!)

Josh,

That sounds very encouraging. I think some of the Adams tour fws are making it into the bags of some PGA players as well.

I was hoping that the 'secret' would stay untold for a while longer to keep that prices down or that you younger guys might think having Adams equipment would be embarassing...looks like neither has happened.

I'll do a review of the 4060 verses the smoothie after the Adams arrives.

There are alot of guys on the Nationwide tour and the Q-school that have Adams gear in their bags. You just dont here about them as much as the regular Tour. Although, i am seeing quite a few guys sneeking more Adams gear in their bags on the PGA Tour. I used to be a Taylor Made man myself and i never thought i would get rid of my 200 tours, but as soon as i was introduced to the Adams fairway woods and hybrids the rest was history. Even the designer of the top Taylor Made equipment works for Adams now. He has more creative freedom to work with now. The sky is the limit.

I will agree with Kappa... the rescue is awesome.. best I have hit.. no hype.. In fact I hate rescues.. but this one is growing on me...Dual 460 is also a dam fine driver- with incredible Ball Speeds- super sonic style!(retail and tour heads)

Kappa- are they bringing the FW's and Rescues to market anytime soon?

when they do-- Adams won't be the Grandpa club maker for much longer!

Any photos you can share?  I have seen the 4060 but not the 5050.

I have the ovation 2080 13* model and it is the best FW i've hit. Was worried about using off the tee but no worries and is the longest 3 wood off the tee i've used. I expected it to go high but with my swing stays mid and flat and runs. Sets up beautifully behind the ball. Feels so solid when you hit it, and i only have a TX90 Stiff in it!! Better than the v-steels and 200's i've played with previously.

Can't wait to put a quality heavy graphite shaft in this and get even more from it. I've always been into Adams gear and i'm only 24!! Glad to see its finally getting recognition. I have the 19* tour idea hybrid coming in the next few days and am fully expecting it to be my favourite club

Just need to find the right driver for me and hope they release a putter for a full Adams bag!

The Adams Tour stuff is amazing. In today's market I think it could really take them in a whole new direction. I hope they release some of it.

Received two Adams tour issue clubs yesterday from KappaRaider...

a hybrid proto 17 with NV 85 hybridX and 4060 13 with YS6+ X.

I hit both at the range today comparing the Adams hybrid 17 to my Genex 3DX 15.5 tour with MCC HB-T LT X1 and the 4060 13 to my TM 200 smoothie 13 with Pro 95 s.

I could play either the Genex or the Adams but after the range session the Adams is in the bag. In short, I was getting similar distance with the Adams 17 as with the 3DX 15.5 -- even thought the NV X shaft was a little stiffer than I would normally play. The feel of the Adams is more muted and more solid. The Adams head is slightly larger in width and looks a little more open at address. Both are great clubs but I just prefer the Adams now that I have hit both.

I'll have to wait to do the 3 wood comparison. The YS6+ did not fit my swing. The 13 smoothie is such a good performer with the Pro 95. I am going to reshaft the 4060 with a Diamana 83 and then hit them side by side. I will say that the 4060, like the hybrid, is very muted and solid...almost as if it was foamed. The size of the two 3 woods is almost identical with only a hint of the 'upside down' trademark toe noticeable on the Adams.

There is no mistaking Adams intent to expand it's appeal to a broader market. They have always had players on staff...now they are giving us the same type clubs that they once only offered to a few.
