Although, in that particular shaft I don't believe there is too much difference between the S and X. Both pretty stout.

Oosthuizen does play a bit of a soft driver shaft for someone who hits it as far as he does. He used to use an I20 with a PX 6.5 before he switched to the Anser.

Oosthuizen does play a bit of a soft driver shaft for someone who hits it as far as he does. He used to use an I20 with a PX 6.5 before he switched to the Anser.

Not 100% sure but I believe I read on here they are tipped 1" or 1.5"

Right per Ping's website they bare tipped a lot so really a soft X flex. That shaft is pretty stout to begin with and I would call his tempo pretty smooth.

Love the G5 fairways. I'm still rocking my G5 3W too. Have yet to find a fairway wood I hit better.

Asked fujikura on twitter he prefers S because they say he likes the sensation of feeling the shaft loading.

I was talking to a Ping rep last weekend and he said (for what its worth) Ping's player's contracts usually only mandate the hat - the rest, which Ping putter / irons / woods is entirely up to the player.

He said they are holding a lot of new G5 fairway woods just for LO, because he's so fond of them.

The S flex Tour spec just has a softer butt section. Same tip as the X, plus Louis' driver is tipped 1". So it plays stout.

Does anyone else notice Louis ocassionaly switches back to the Ping Scottsdale Anser 2 putter then back to the zbs? I believe he used the Anser 2 at the WGC match-play.

And…….Truman Capote, Nabokov, Steinbeck to name a few all preferred the Blackwing no. 2 or HB pencil to write their novels. I'm convinced we could all be great writers if we would only choose the Blackwing pencil. You get my point.
