Adams 5050 Tour FW Preview

Hi All,

Just received this tour Adams 13* Redline 5050 from KappaRaider this week. I'm afraid it will not be a extensive review because of weather issues here in Montana, more of a quick test.

 

The Redline 5050 is quite deep for a fw wood. Loft on this head measures 14* by my loft gauge, 43" D4. Head is shafted w/ PM902S which feels great for my 102 SS w/ the driver. None of the courses close are open but I went to our local Par 3 course yesterday which is due for demolition to make way for some more condo's is still snow free.

 

My handicap varies between 1 - 5 depending on time of season and how much I'm playing, high ball hitter, 54yrs old. Current driver setup is 8.5 580XD tour head w/ TP Diamana 83 S. Fairway is 13* tour Cally 2004 BB w/ Fuji 660 S tipped .5". Both cpm out @ 260.

 

The Adams hits fairly high flat bombs of the tee. I was a little suprised at the elevation on both the fairway and rough attemps. I was able to get plenty of height off the turf w/o any problems. Overall distance was hard to determine, I paced off several in the 240 yd range off the tee which I though was good considering temps were 42-43* F. I was hitting a very lite fade off the turf which were in the 230 yd range. Sound was fantastic, muted thwack that felt very solid. Feel was excellent as well, I could tell where I hit it on club and if it was nutted or not. I asked for a 1*open head and this one looks perfect to my eye.

Overall a very solid club which will make it into my bag w/o any trouble. I can't find any flaws. A+.

 

I want to thank Matt (KappaRaider) for bending over backwards to get me what I wanted (took a little bit to figuire out) and what would work for me.

I don't know if the upcoming products will result in positive feelings at the retail level, but I must say that Adams is throwing out some new quality products! Good looking 3 wood.

i really hope they do release them. Doing so would give adams a whole new identity, one that i think would increase sales with the better player

I love how deep the face is...how come we dont see more 50/50s...is this the only one?

Well honestly they are pretty limited and harder to find than some of the others. They hit flat bombs off the tee and from the fairway.

ill have to keep an eye out...are they all redline models that are the 50/50?
